When building a high-performance street machine or track car, you don’t want to forget about upgrading your steering components as well. This power steering pump was designed for that reason, to give you a pump designed and engineered for racing and high-performance cars. This pump is built tough with an 8620 steel shaft that has been heat treated to 63 Rockwell on the hardness scale to provide you with long lasting durability. It features new pump technologies like a micro-honed piston bore for a smooth and quick response, ported internal passages for lower turbulence and a unique pump design that is versatile, durable and efficient. You can even calibrate and tune this power steering pump to best suit the performance of your Mustang. Whether it be for competition or street driving, this pump will outperform the rest.
Total Control Products recommends maximum operational pump speeds of 9,000 rpm. A typical street engine with common sized crankshaft pulleys will run the power steering pump well below 9,000 rpm. If you have a high-rpm engine with an over-driven pulley arrangement, it is highly recommended that you calculate the pump speed to make sure that it does not exceed the maximum pump speed.
