Turbosmart Kompact Shortie Plumb Back Blow Off Valve for all 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 Focus STs and all 2011-2012 F150s with a 3.5L EcoBoost Engine.
One of the first mods many perform to a turbocharged vehicle is an upgraded blow off valve. Turbosmart offers this Plumb Back style blow off valve to improve performance while keeping the noise down. All air is diverted back to the intake just like the factory blow off valve. However, the Turbosmart blow off valve offers much better construction and performance. The all new Kompact Shortie Blow Off Valve is specifically designed to suit BorgWarner EFR and KKK turbos, which are factory installed components on many Ford EcoBoost engines, including the 2013-2016 Focus ST and 2011-2012 3.5L EcoBoost F150s.
The Turbosmart Kompact Shortie Plumb Back Blow Off Valve is a bolt-on direct replacement for the factory valve on all BorgWarner EFR, KKK and most EcoBoost turbos. Experience better boost response and superior boost handling capabilities with the Kompact Shortie Plumb Back BOV.
- Kompact Shortie Plumb Back Blow Off Valve
- Straight and Banjo Nipples
- Mounting Screws
- Spring Clamps
The Plumb Back design of this Kompact Shortie BOV offers responsive flow characteristics so you can successfully reach your power goal while making as much noise as the factory blow off valve. Air is diverted back to the intake making the Plumb Back Kompact Shortie BOV as quiet as the stock blow off valve. However, performance is greatly increased. Turbosmart's Kompact Shortie Plumb Back Blow Off Valve will have everyone stopping, staring and listening to your ride.
Turbosmart machines each Kompact Shortie BOV in-house, from solid billet aluminum. Ensuring they won't suffer from cracking or leaking like the factory, plastic valves do with weak, non-reinforced diaphragms. Internally, the use of a light-weight, brass/aluminum, two-piece, O-ring sealed piston and new carefully engineered springs make this BOV the most responsive valve of its kind, capable of handling over 30PSI of boost!
The smaller dimensions of the new Turbosmart Kompact Shortie Plumb Back Blow Off Valve make it a breeze to install and it fits a wide range of applications. Making things even easier, each BOV is supplied with both a swivel banjo nipple and a straight nipple, meaning you can modify the BOV to better suit your application. While larger o-rings have been fitted in the base to make installation easier than ever.
Will Also Fit:
- Ford Fusion 2.0L EcoBoost
- Ford XR5/RS 2.5L 5-Cylinder 2004-2010
Please Note: The 3.5L F150 is a twin turbo, so it requires two of these Turbosmart Kompact Shortie Plumb Back Blow Off Valves.

If you're running factory boosts replacing the bypass valve is a good idea. If you're running higher boost than the factory it's pretty much a must have installation. If you subscribe to our You Tube channel you've probably seen our Turbosmart dual port we installed recently on our white Focus ST. The dual port is a 50/50, half the pressure goes back in the inlet track and the other half is vented to the atmosphere. The unit we're installing on our red car is going to be their Kompact Shortie Plumb Back valve, which basically is a directly replacement for the factory. It does not vent to the atmosphere so you don't get that sound. It takes all the air and puts it back in your inlet track.
Turbosmart includes detailed instructions, along with the valve, hardware, and two different fittings for installation. For this installation you'll need jack and jack stands or a lift, 3/8 ratchet, extension, 13 mm deep socket, 5 mm Allen socket, 5 mm Allen key, needle nose pliers, and a flashlight. The bypass valve is located in the passenger side wheel well so the first part of your installation is to get your car off the ground and remove your wheel.
Start by removing the factory line to our original bypass valve. Next remove the three 5 mm screws that hold the factory valve in place. There's one located here, another one hiding behind the bolt here, and a third one up top. Lift the bracket up and pull out the factory piece.
The Turbosmart includes the angle port that comes installed, as well as a straight port. Since our factory one was straight it'll be much easier to reinstall the straight port. We're ready to install. We want to make sure when we're installing the new Turbosmart there's a flat spot on the top here and you want that facing upward toward the turbo.
Let's pull down on the factory bracket, put this up into place, and we can bolt it down. The last step is to reinstall the line. Before we put it back on the ground we'll make sure everything is working properly by giving you the test start. A little louder than our stock valve, but barely noticeable.
The Turbosmart Kompact Shortie was a perfect choice for our Focus ST project car. If you do like the sound the dual port is the way to go, but in our case we wanted the performance without necessarily adding the sound to it so the Plumb Back was definitely the ticket. Installation should take you around a half an hour. You should be back on the road in no time.
