Red Tails Mustang FeaturesUsing the 2013 Mustang GT as a base, the Red Tails Mustang featured a striking paint scheme consisting of an aluminum-colored body with red and yellow trim and, of course, a red “tail” at the rear. Other distinguishing exterior features included a Boss grille, 20” Forgiotto wheels and glass roof. The interior was equipped with Recaro racing seats embroidered with the Red Tails logo and floor mats embroidered with the logo of the U.S. Army Air Corps 332nd Fighter Group and Squadrons. Other interior modifications included performance gauges, rear seat delete, specially designed tri-colored seat belts and a Boss steering wheel. The Red Tails Mustang also featured a powerful 5.0L engine with a twin-screw Whipple supercharger pack and a quad exhaust system with quad side exhaust pipes.
Other distinctive Red Tails Mustang features included the Red Tails script that appeared in the illuminated sill plates and puddle lamps whenever the vehicle’s doors were opened. The vehicle can also be started with a push of a button. The Red Tails Mustang sold for $370,000 at the EAA AirVentures Oshkosh show, bringing the total amount raised for the Young Eagles through the auctioning of special-edition Mustangs at these annual events to more than $2 million.
