1964.5 Struts & Shocks

Your 1964.5 Mustang's shocks and struts are designed to absorb shocks and bumps. But over time, they lose the ability to dampen. When that happens, you may notice a bouncier ride. For most Mustangs, that will happen around 50,000 miles. But if you drive on a lot of uneven roads, you may need to replace them sooner.

Replace Worn Out Shocks and Struts for a Better Ride

The shocks and struts your Mustang came from the factory with are ideal for most drivers. If you primarily use your classic Mustang for Sunday rides or daily driving, then a replacement set should be perfect for you. KYB offers a selection of shocks designed to return your '64.5 Mustang its original performance.

If you've started playing with the idea of going to track days or participating in autocross, then you may want to try adjustable shocks and struts. These allow you to select how firm you want your ride to be. The softest setting will ride like your factory shock absorbers did. But on the firmest setting you'll have a much more responsive ride.

If you need to replace your shocks and struts anyway and want a much firmer ride, then it may be the perfect time to switch over to using coilovers. Coilover suspensions let you have much more control and also allow you to adjust your ride height.
