Today on CJ Offroad, we're gonna turn the volume up a notch on our new JL.

The factory exhaust on your new JL is great for the highway, but if you wanna make it sound and perform better, then today we're gonna be installing this aFe Turndown Cat-Back Exhaust, fitting your new 2018 Jeep JL 4-door Wrangler.

This aFe Turndown Exhaust features 3" mandrel band 409 stainless steel, which is going to prohibit rust when you're out on the trail getting this thing muddy. It's going to turn down right before your rear axle to give you the ultimate articulation and clearance when you're out on the trail. It has a deep performance sound. It's a free-flowing stainless steel muffler, meaning that you're gonna get the most performance and make it sound really nice on this new 3.6 liter engine.

This exhaust mounts to all factory locations. So we're gonna go ahead and put it on to our new 2018 Jeep JL.

Tools you need for this installation: a 1/2" ratchet, a 13 mm short socket, 13 mm deep socket, 15 mm short socket, 15 mm deep socket, a medium size pry bar, an exhaust hanger removal tool, and a small flathead screwdriver.

The first step of this installation is to remove the factory exhaust. There's a couple of band planks and hangers. Let's get started.

The first bolt to remove is right here behind the muffler. It attaches to the tailpipe and this mid-section. Use a 15 mm socket, and get it nice and loosened up. This band plank is actually welded on to the exhaust pipe, so just get it really loose, and it'll slip out.

After you have the band clamp bolt loosened up we're gonna work on the hanger. Start on the passenger side and just work it out with a pry bar.

Then we go on to the driver's side. Now with it being completely free, we can pull it out towards us.

To get the mid-pipe removed, there's a new type of band plank up here with a 13 mm bolt. It's at the top. It's kind of tricky to get to. There's a little clip on the back of this clamp. Pry it up and it should pull out towards you. Slip the band clamp off of the front pipe. We'll work on getting it off once it's on the ground. Move on to the rear where there's another hanger. We could pull that off and get this tailpipe out.

Towards the rear axle, there is another hanger that you have to pull off in order to get this mid-pipe out.

Pull the mid-pipe towards you. Kind of rotate it up towards the front of the Jeep. And pull it back towards you, and out of the Jeep. Make sure you hang on to this factory clamp that comes off the mid-pipe. You're gonna use this on your new aFe exhaust to make it really easy for you. Just make sure you hang on to it.

I had to slide the tailpipe into the muffler here. It makes it a little bit easier. That way you can get this hanger into the slot, and it kind of holds it all up. That way you can get it situated. Push this through the factory hanger. Put this over the transfer case skid, and then reconnect it into that tailpipe. Then get this connection made up front here with the factory clamp. You go back and get this all tightened up.

Then tighten down the included band clamp from aFe.

We took the wheel and tire off. That way you could see just how high tuck this exhaust is. It's gonna be great for the trail. With that being said, let's get it started up, see how it sounds.

This aFe exhaust looks really great where it is. It's going to get it out of the way for rocks and other debris when you're out on the trail. It's a whole lot louder than the factory exhaust, plus it's stainless steel, which means that it's not gonna rust.

Now you can find this aFe exhaust, as well as many other great parts for your new JL right here at CJPonyParts.com.
