This aFe Magnum Force Pro Dry S Stage 2 H-Pipe cold air intake features dual equal-length intake tubes with the unique H-Pipe design and dual Pro Dry washable filters that will that increase air flow up to 67 percent better than the factory intake.
With all necessary hardware included we're going to be installing this aFe intake on our 2016 F-150 EcoBoost. Tools you'll need for this installation: 1/4" ratchet, 7mm socket, 8mm socket, an extension, and a trim removal tool or a flat-head screwdriver.
The installation of this aFe cold air intake is going to be very simple. First thing that we have to do is remove the factory intake just buy removing three hose clamps. You can use either a flat-head screwdriver or a 7mm socket to remove these hose clamps. This third hose clamp is a little tricky to get to but with an extension you should have no problem. With all the hose clamps loosened, you can unplug this connector on the intake. Then you can pop off the air box retaining clips and remove the intake.
Now before you set the stock intake aside or throw it away, you want to remove the MAP sensor from it. Simply turn it counter-clockwise and wiggle it out. We're going to be transferring over the MAP sensor to this aFe pipe. You're going to use the supplied grommet; put it in the hole that is in this pipe. You can now remove this O-ring from the sensor but be careful when removing it. This sensor is very delicate. With the grommet seated properly in this pipe, you can insert the sensor.
We can now start to assemble the aFe intake. We're going to start off by putting this weather stripping on the air box. Now we can put this in the truck.
We're going to be installing this vent tube insert on the vent inlet on the intake tube on the driver's side near the turbo. What this does, because the aFe flows so much better, it restricts the airflow back into the engine block. If you don't install it, you'll get a check engine code saying your crank case breather is disconnected because there is such an increase in airflow.
To install this, it's not necessary, but we're going to remove the engine cover just to give you a better shot of us installing it. Remove the oil filler cap and pull up on the engine cover. To install the insert we're going to remove this hose right here. Just push on the connector and pull it up, and on this connector down here. To release these, you're pushing on this grey tab in this direction, loosening the clamp, and you just pull up. This insert has an angle cut on it. You want the opened end facing the turbo. It has to face that direction. If it faces anywhere else it will not work. You have to make sure it doesn't rotate when you put it in and it is going to be a tight fit. If it does end up rotating, and you need to pull it out and you can't pull it out by hand, just use a pair of needle-nose pliers. Then put the factory hose back on. Now we can move on with the rest of the installation.
We can now install this portion of the air box, but before we do we have to disconnect this wiring clip. Slide the grooves on this air box through these holes right here and then use the factory clamps to secure it. Grab your two aFe Pro Dry S filters and stick them through their holes. Put their hose clamps on. Now install the first intake tube. We can tighten up the hose clamps for this pipe. Now install the coupler that's going to connect the two pipes and install your final pipe. Reconnect your sensor and your installation is finished.
Now we're going to see what it sounds like.
Our aFe cold air intake is installed. It looks awesome. It sounds great. Installation should take you about an hour and before you know it, you'll be heading down the road.
