The factory fog lights on the Ram are dull yellow halogens and really need an upgrade, so today, we're gonna significantly upgrade them, put this Baja Designs LED fog light kit.
This is Baja Design's LED fog light kit for your 2013 to 17 Ram. It comes with two heavy duty mounting brackets that will allow you to mount two Baja Design's lights in the factory fog light locations. A wire harness is also included in the kit to make the install as easy as possible. For this particular install, we're gonna be using a pair of Baja Designs quadrant Sports Wide and driving lights for maximum light coverage and visibility. For more information and pricing, click the link in the description down below. Now, let's get to the install.
Tools you'll need for this installation: three eights ratchet, ten milometer socket, nine sixteenths socket, nine sixteenths wrench, five thirty-seconds allen key, and basic wiring tools.
Okay, the first thing we're gonna do for this install is install our lights onto the bracket. We're gonna be showing you how to assemble and install the driver's side and it's the same process for the passenger side. If you're installing different lights onto this bracket, Baja Designs recommends that you install the driving or the spotlight up top and then the wide patterned light on the bottom.
Install the provided washer and nut to lock them in place. Tighten the nut and bolt with a nine sixteenth socket and wrench. Now, you don't need to make these too tight, you do want a little bit of adjustment with them so it's easier to adjust them once they're installed onto the truck. They're on their pretty snug, but I can turn these just in case they need to be adjusted. Once you get both brackets assembled, you can move over to the truck and remove the factory fog light. There's three bolts that secure the factory fog light in place that need to be removed. One here, here, and here. Once all three bolts are removed, disconnect the harness and remove the assembly. Now you can put the bracket in place where the factory fog light was and secure it with the factory hardware. Get the third bolt installed then tighten all three down.
Okay, now you can adjust your lights then move on to the passenger side. So we're gonna be using the wiring harness that came with this kit and I need to take these two black wires and ground them either to the battery or to the chasse and then hook this yellow wire up to the battery. And now your harness is wired up, you can flip a switch, turn on the lights and make sure they work, and now you can run this switch to anywhere in the cab that you choose and our installs done.
As you can see by looking at our wall, these are incredibly bright. They're practically another set of headlights and they're actually brighter than the headlights too. Okay, we got our Baja Designs LED fog light kit installed in our 2015 ram and I have to say this is a massive upgrade for this truck, but definitely brighter than the fog lights and brighter than the headlights too. I'd say give yourself an hour and a half to do this and before you know it, you'll be heading off road.
