One of the great things about owning a truck is being able to haul and store items in the bed, but security and weather can become an issue. One of the common ways of combating these issues is by installing a bed cover. Today, we're going to give our 2016 Silverado some added security by installing this BAK Industries Revolver X2 Tonneau Cover. This cover is made of high quality aluminum which easily rolls up for bed access and bed security. Its vinyl covered aluminum top can support up to 400 pounds and has extremely durable seals and hinges. Today, we're going to install it on our 2016 Silverado.

For this installation, you'll need an 3/8 ratchet, half inch socket, 9/16 socket and a pair of scissors.

The first step of the installation is to seal the front of the bed. The kit comes with two different seals. If you have a drop-in bed liner, you're going to use the thinner seal. If you have a spray bed liner like we have, or no bed liner at all, you're going to use the thicker seal. Peel the backing off, and lay the seal all the way across and trim it to fit. Peel the backing off, probably don't want to do it all at once. Do little by little. Line it all the way up against the rail and work your way across the top of the bed. Once you get it to the edge, trim it to fit.

To install the rails, you'll notice each one has this little bracket on it. This bracket is going to go towards the front of the bed facing the inside. You'll also notice there's a pad on here. If you have a drop-in bed liner, you'll remove this pad. If you have a spray-on bed liner or no bed liner at all, you leave this on. Then when you're ready to install it, just simply set it on top of the bed rail and slide it down.

With the rail in place, you can install a lock on the front of the rail. It goes in-between the bed and the rail. Slide it up as far as you can, then tighten it all the way with a 9/16 socket. Install the third one, and repeat the same process on the other side. With both rails installed, you can install the cover. You might need some help lifting it up. What you're going to do, going to lay this upfront, and then roll it all the way back and then roll again.

When you roll the cover up, you'll notice these two slots. You're going to install a bolt in each slot on each side. Then what you're going to do, you're going to roll the cover to get these bolts to slide into the bracket. Before you install the nuts on the bottom of those bolts, make sure the cover is centered, squared and it locks before you tighten it in place. Now that you know it's good, you can roll it back up and tighten the nuts.

To open the cover, pull down on this cable right here. That'll unlock it. First, install the nylon washer, then the metal washer, then the nut. Tighten the nuts with a half inch socket, then tighten the other side. The kit comes with these four pieces of weather stripping. You're going to apply this to the roller, just so the roller doesn't hit the glass and crack your glass. Now if this thing were going to roll up and hit the glass, the weather stripping will hit the glass and not the aluminum.

The final part of this installation is installing the strap. Place the mount right next to the furthest forward mount that you installed, as far forward as you can, and then tighten it. Then you can put the strap over the roller, clip it into place, then tighten it. Then repeat the process on the other side. When everything's installed, you can roll it out and your installation's finished. Our BAK Industries Revolver X2 Tonneau cover is installed. Fitment is spot on. Installation was super-easy, it's only going to take about 45 minutes. Before you know it, you'll be heading off-road.
