California Residents: Proposition 65 Warning
Novice skill is required for this installation.
This Borla Touring Cat-Back Exhaust is made of two and a half inch mandrel-bent stainless steel tubing with a high flow resonator and muffler, with dual tailpipes and black chrome tips. It's gonna give your Jeep a nice sound, but it won't be too loud. So today we're gonna install it on our 2016 Jeep Wrangler.
Tools you will need for this installation: a lift or a jack and jack stands, 1/2" ratchet, 15mm socket, 18mm socket, 15mm wrench and you might need an exhaust hanger removal tool.
This cat-back exhaust is pretty simple to install, we have to start off by removing the factory system which is pretty easy. Just remove this clamp right here on the muffler, then remove the muffler from the two hangers.
Loosen the clamp with a 15mm socket.
Remove the driver's side hanger from the muffler.
Then remove the rubber hanger from the frame mount.
With both hangers removed, just twist the muffler, and pull it off.
Come up to the front of the exhaust now where the front pipe meets the y-pipe, and remove the clamp. Now if you have some miles on your Jeep, this clamp might be pretty hard to remove, so you might want to use some penetrating lubricant.
Remove the rubber hanger from the front pipe. Then there's one more hanger to remove. Then remove this rubber hanger near the axle.
Lower the skid plate by removing the rear two bolts, and then loosening the front two.
Then come back to the back of the exhaust and twist it to pull it off the front pipe.
Bring the exhaust back. Bring it around the skid plate, and then bring it forward to remove it. With the factory exhaust out of the way, the first thing we're gonna do is put a provided clamp over the y-pipe. Then take the rubber hanger that was right here, install it onto the resonator pipe. Then install the resonator pipe onto the y-pipe. Make sure you line up the tab on the right side. Get it seated, and then put the rubber hanger on the mount right there.
Put a clamp over the resonator. Grab the over axle pipe, install it into the resonator and then onto this rubber hanger.
So now with the over axle pipe installed, place a clamp on the over axle pipe. Grab the muffler and install it onto the over axle pipe, then the driver's side hanger, then the passenger side hanger.
With the exhaust in place. You can now tighten the clamps starting from the front, then work your way towards the rear.
Reinstall the skid plate. Then make your way to the muffler. Tighten the clamp on the muffler. And then you can install the tips. Place a clamp over the tip and install it onto the tailpipe. Adjust it to your liking, then tighten the clamp. Probably gonna have to readjust it, and then tighten it some more. And repeat the process on the other side. And your installation's finished.>
All right, let's hear it.
Our Borla Touring Cat-Back Exhaust is installed, the dual black tips looks really good on this Jeep. And it sounds really good too and it's not too loud. Installation's real easy, it'll only take about an hour. And before you know it, you'll be heading off road.
