If you're looking for an extreme sound from your 2018 EcoBoost Mustang, today we're going to show you how with help from Ford Performance.

This is the Ford Performance by Borla Extreme Cat-Back Exhaust System fitting your 2018 EcoBoost fastback or convertible. It's made right here in the USA of mandrel bent 304 stainless steel. It comes with your choice of either a carbon fiber tip, a black chrome tip, or a chrome tip.

All right. For comparisons' sake, we're gonna give you some clips of the stock exhaust. So the first step in installing your Ford Performance by Borla Exhaust, get the car off the ground, remove the factory exhaust system. To do that, it's definitely a two man job, will make it easier.

You'll loosen these bolts here, loosen two back hangars, and then you're gonna slide it off as one full system. Then you're gonna remove these two bolts back here to release these hangars. What we're gonna do is actually slide the whole system back on these repel pipe hangars, and then slide it forward off the car.

Once you remove your factory system, you wanna grab these two hangars, and this front clamp as you'll use them on your Ford Performance system. We're beginning the installation of our Ford Performance Extreme Cat back by reinstalling the factory clamp, and then installing the Y pipe. We're just gonna snug it down for now.

Then we move on to our tailpipe, they are size specific so make sure to grab the one that's labeled for the side you're working on. Install the factory hangar, and grab a new clamp. Here we install the bolt for the hangar, then we'll snug everything down. And then grab our mufflers, grab a clamp. Especially you put on the pipe so you can get to it later.

You can start by putting it up in the rear hangar, then slide it onto the tailpipe. Now we'll snug this clamp down and go back through and adjust everything. So the Ford Performance by Borla Extreme system fit great, let's hear how it sounds. Well it definitely has that same kind of like crackle and pop to it. The Sport has a little more volume, a more of aggressive tone out of it.

With an aftermarket downpipe or an off-road downpipe, this ones gonna get real loud. Now if any of you with an EcoBoost happen to catch my review with the Ford Performance Extreme for the GT, remember what I said. It kind of stands true for the EcoBoost as well. Don't be afraid of the Extreme name.

A lot of people hear Extreme and they oh my God, I'm gonna wake up the neighbors, it's gonna be brutally loud. With the rest of the car factory exhaust wise, you know stock downpipe, it is perfectly livable. It's not over the top at all. Yeah, we're cruising down the highway now. There's no drone, no nothing. You don't even really know it's back there.

It sounds almost like the stock exhaust. Now when you wanna hear it, you know you downshift, then all of a sudden you get the sound out of it. But, it really isn't, It's louder than the Sport, but it's not like a night and day. When you go from the Touring, to the Sport, or the Extreme, it's a huge difference.

The Touring has to stay at that 95 decibel level. It's basically stock volume, but a much better tone to it. Now when you get up to this level, we're doing the Sport or the Extreme, now it really it is louder. You're getting more output in the factory system, and you're keeping that nice tone though, that the Touring has.

Right now, you could easily drive this every day. You're not gonna upset the police, piss off your neighbors, nothing like that. And that's something Ford Performance is pretty good at, and teaming up with Borla, they're gonna make an exhaust system that sounds good. You can tell it's after market, you can tell it sounds better than the factory system, but it's not over the top.

It's something that if Ford made an EcoBoost R, or something like that. You could put this exhaust on it, and it'd be perfectly acceptable. The nice thing is, the stock systems in these cars, we did that sound clip for you, you don't even really hear anything. Now we all know about the pipe sound through the speakers and stuff that Ford likes to do. But the stock exhaust has very little sound output.

Now you go to a system like this Ford Performance, you're getting better flow. Better flow with other parts, down the road it's gonna lead to better horse power, better torque and also saving 20 pounds over the factory system too. So you're taking a little bit of weight off the car, and it looks a lot better.

And it sounds nice coming from the RPM band too. You do get…the sound kind of changes about 3,500 to 4,000, you get a little more of a noticeable, okay growl is probably the wrong word for an EcoBoost but, you get a much louder tone. I know people are gonna ask hey, does it sound like a GT? No. It sounds like an EcoBoost, it's always gonna sound like an EcoBoost.

But the Extreme's an excellent choice. You want something definitely louder than stock, something people hear you, something with a nice, good tone. But you know, like I said you want an exhaust that is absolutely perfectly livable for daily driving. The Ford Performance Extreme would be a good choice.
