Installed 8'' rear end in a 65 Mustang with a 331 engine putting out 408 HP on the dyno. The gears are 2:80. It has a T5 tranny. Would 3:73 gears be better? Installed 15'' tires. What do I need for the speedo gear?

Asked by: mmustang
The 3.37 would be a better choice. Not sure about the gear you would have to see how far off the speedo is off after the installation. More teeth will slow down the speedo, less teeth will speed up the speedo. One tooth is good for about 5mph.

Hi, I have a 1969 mustang with a differential 3.00, what kind of ring pinion do you recommend for more acceleration?

Asked by: Rfg89
That depends on what kind of driving you will be doing. 3.55 or 3.73 will work. We would need to know what size rear end you have 8 or 9 inch.

i have a 2018 automatic 5.0. i want to switch to 3.73 gears but i do not know which factory gears i have now. i would like to know which gears are in there now

Asked by: lildyl
It should say on your window sticker. If not, you can have your local Ford dealership look up your VIN and they can provide you with that information.

I have a 2015 ecoboost and considering a gear change to achieve better acceleration. I have a ford performance tune but the acceleration, in my opinion, is still slow and sluggish. What gear ratio would you suggest? I have 235/50 R18 tires.

Asked by: davey2
I always recommend 3.73 gears.
