This Gibson axle back exhaust is made of 2-1/2 inch mandrel bend stainless steel tubing, with a dual outlet muffler, and polished tips to give your Jeep a nice look, and better sound. It comes with everything you need for an easy installation. Today we're going to install it on our 2016 Jeep Wrangler.
Tools you'll need for this installation 3/8 ratchet, 15 mm socket, 1/2 inch socket, 9/16 socket, a 1/2 inch wrench, and you might need an exhaust hanger removal tool. This axle back exhaust is going to be super easy to install. There's only one 15 mm nut holding it on. Then you just have to remove the muffler from the two rubber hangers.
Remove the 15 mm nut on the exhaust clamp. Now we're going to remove this bracket from the rubber hanger on the Jeep. All right, now we can move to the other hanger. Once both hangers are disconnected, grab onto the muffler, and twist it to break it loose from the pipe, then you can pull it off. With the factory exhaust out of the way, the first thing we're going to do, is put the provided clamp on the over-axle pipe.
Then grab the muffler, and install it onto the over-axle pipe, then the driver side hanger, then the passenger side hanger. And now, you can tighten the clamp. Tighten the clamp with a 9/16 socket. Install the tips. Position them where you like, then tighten the bolt and nut with a 1/2 inch socket, and 1/2 inch wrench. Now we can install the other tip. And your installation is finished.
All right, let's hear it. Our Gibson axle back exhaust is installed. It looks way better than the factory exhaust. I'm loving the dual polished tips. It sounds pretty good, too, but it's not too loud. Installation's easy; it's only going take about 30 to 45 minutes, and before you know it, you'll be heading off road.
