Paired with the all-new six-speed automatic transmission, the powerful V8 motor was capable of putting down a whopping 403 horsepower. On a different note, for those drivers that wished to make fuel efficiency a priority, GM introduced an XFE (extra fuel economy) for the crew cab in 2009.
The following year, GMC made several changes to its engine lineup, including the discontinuation of the 6.0L V8. Other noteworthy adjustments included a more fuel efficient 5.3L motor, a standard six-speed transmission with the 6.2L, and all V8s now running on E85 as well as gasoline. All-new LED headlamps and running lights became standard on all 2016 GMC Sierra 1500s, with LED fog lights also available on certain editions.

The 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup became more aerodynamic than ever, thanks to the addition of active grille shutters from the factory.
