California Residents: Proposition 65 Warning
If you want to make it easier to get in and out of your Jeep a set of these GraBars grab handles is exactly what you need. Made of solid three quarter inch steel, with a black powder coat finish, these grab handles bolt directly into existing holes, with a dual layer rubber grip for added comfort. They're super easy to install, and come with everything you need. Today we're going to install them on our 2008 Jeep Wrangler.
Tools you'll need for this installation 13 millimeter socket, six millimeter hex key, three eighths ratchet, and a torque wrench.
Installing these grab handles is very easy and straightforward. All you have to do is remove two bolts on the inside of this A pillar, so let's get to it. Okay. All you need for this part is a 13 millimeter socket. We're going to remove a bolt here and right up here. They're kind of hard to see, but I promise they're there. It might be helpful in removing this one if you put a little piece of towel or something in your socket, just so it doesn't fall down. Otherwise you might have to take the trim off to get the bolt if it falls. Just be careful that it doesn't drop. There you go. There we go.
It's recommended that you lubricate the bolts before installing the new hardware, because Jeep has some lock tight in their nuts, so this will make it a little easier to install. We're going to start off by installing the bolt on the bottom hole right here, and then put the spacer on the bolt. Then install it into the factory nut, but don't tighten it all the way. Just get it started with a few threads so it stays in place. Then get the top spacer in place, then the bolt. Then tighten both bolts down. Torque them both to 25 foot pounds. Then repeat the process on the other side, and your installations finished.
We got both grab bars installed. They're really going to help with getting in and out of this Jeep, and they're so strong and durable they're probably going to outlast the Jeep itself. Installation is not to bad either. It should only take about 20-30 minutes, and before you know if you'll be heading off road.
