Tolls you'll need for this installation, 10-millimeter socket, 13-millimeter socket, 5 -millimeter hex key, 6-millimeter hex key, a 3-inch ratchet, and a torque wrench. Installation of these grab handles is really simple. All you need to do is remove two 13-millimeter bolts, one here, and one here. We'll remove the first 13-millimeter. Be careful when removing this one, it has a tendency to fall out of the socket and then fall behind this trim here. Just be careful not to drop it. Remove the top one. We're ready to install our grab handle. Before you install it, though, it's recommended to lubricate the hardware that comes with it because Jeep used Loctite from the factory and the bolts can be a little bit difficult to get in, so lubricate them up to make it a little easier.
We're going to take the longer bolt and put it through the lower hole in the handle, then put the longer sleeve over the bolt and install this into the lower bolt hole. Get it started with a few threads, but don't tighten it all the way. We're also going to lubricate the shorter bolt. Place the shorter sleeve on top of the handle, then insert the bolt and thread it in. With both bolts in, we're going to tighten them up all the way. Finally, torque both bolts to 25 foot-pounds. Okay, now we can repeat the process for the passenger side and then move on to the rear handles.
Okay, so we're in the rear now, they're even easier than the front. All you have to do is remove a 10-millimeter bolt here and here. Place one of the bolts through the handle, and you're going to have the grip facing the front of the Jeep. Then you're going to use a 5-millimeter hex key to tighten it up. Do the same thing to the front. Torque each bolt to 120 inch-pounds. Repeat the process for the other side, then your installation's finished. Okay, so we got all four grab handles installed. The black grips really look nice on this Jeep. They're incredibly durable too. You can move the whole Jeep with these things, they are not going anywhere. Installation's not too bad either, it should only take you about 45 minutes and before you know it, you'll be heading off-road.
