- WD-40
Install Difficulty:
- Moderate Project
1. To make it easier pushing back the piston later on, remove the top of the brake fluid container. Before you start the installation of your new Mustang Baer 54131-020 Decelerator Rear Brake Rotors, make sure you're not using the parking brake! Otherwise you will not be able to remove the caliper.

2. Lift your car with the jack, remove the wheels and put it on one or two jack stands.

3. This is how it looks before you start removing the Mustang brakes.

4. Take the 13mm socket and remove the two bolts: One on top and one on the bottom of the Mustang caliper.

5. Remove the caliper.

6. Take your wire tie and hang your caliper on it, attaching it to a fixed point that's out of the way. Otherwise the brake hose could be damaged.

7. Put some WD-40 on the piston, so it will turn back easier.

8. Take your caliper piston push/turn tool, place it on the piston, and turn it clockwise, so the piston will go back into the caliper. It can be a bit difficult, especially with older cars, so you should use a bit of force. After this, remove the tool and it should look like this:

9. Now you can remove the two Mustang brake pads: One on the inside and one on the outside of the rotor.

10. After this, remove the two metal plates that are still inside your caliper mount.

11. Now take out the two bolts with the 15mm socket. These hold your caliper mount, one on top and one below the caliper mount.

12. Take off the caliper mount.

13. If there is a little metal ring on one of the screw-threads, take it off, using a little screw driver.

14. Now you are ready to take of the Mustang rotors.

15. It should look like this:

16. Place your new Baer rotor, but be aware that they are side specific!

17. It is now time to put back the caliper mount and secure it with the two 15mm bolts.

18. After this, you may put back the little metal ring.

19. And now put back the two metal plates.

20. Take your new Mustang brake pads and put them like this in the caliper mount.

21. Now it is time to reinstall the caliper, with the two 13mm bolts.

22. Just a little hint: Make sure that the caliper is installed properly, because one side of the washer and the caliper is flat. Look at the picture below.

23. After checking if everything is OK, you can put back your Mustang wheels and tires and remove the jack stand(s).
24. Do all of this on the other side and your work is done. Take your Mustang for a test drive and enjoy your new Mustang Baer Decelerator Rear Brake Rotors.
