Tools Required:
- Phillips Head Screw Driver
Install Difficulty:
- Moderate Project
1. It would be difficult, but possible to install your new Mustang Deluxe Interior Map Light with Switch without removing the dash pad and clock panel assembly, by approaching from underneath via the passenger side foot well. The simpler way is to remove the dash pad first, which is the method I will cover in this guide. Remove the dash pad by undoing the screws from the top of the pad, underneath the cowl on both driver and passenger sides, at each end of the pad underneath the end caps and finally the two vertical trim screws underneath the top of the radio head plate.

2. You can also optionally remove the clock panel assembly from the Mustang dash pad to make installation a little easier. Note the location of the two attachment points below.

3. Grab your map light assembly and note the three wires present: a positive and negative grouped together on one connector and a single wire for connection to a glove box switch if you have one.

4. The photo below shows the location of the glove box light switch (if fitted).

5. Note the fitting location for the Mustang map light assembly. You will need to provide two self tapping screws to attach it as none are supplied with the kit.

6. Screw the map light assembly into place. I used 8g mushroom heads with a 3/4-inch length.

7. In the Mustang clock wiring feed there should already be a spare connector present to enable simple connection of your new map light.

8. Connect up the glove box light switch if fitted. Reinstall the clock panel in the dash pad then reinstall the dash pad into the car and you’re done installing your new Mustang Deluxe Interior Map Light with Switch!
