- 1/2-inch Wrench or Socket
Install Difficulty:
- Moderate Project
1. This is what it looks like under the hood now, before starting the installation of your Mustang Dynacorn 3631F Shock Tower Top. I’d start with jacking the car up so that the shock compression is relieved, which makes it easier since it's not under stress.

2. Remove the two bolts that hold the shocks to the Mustang shock tower tops with a 1/2-inch wrench.

3. Turn the Mustang shocks sideways as this is the best way to clear the tower mounts later.

4. Remove the three bolts that hold down the shock tower with a 9/16-inch wrench.

5. Now all three bolts are removed and the shock tower ready for removal.

6. The brace is still bolted to the lip above the firewall.

7. You will need two 9/16-inch wrenches to remove the two bolts.

8. Now the Mustang export brace is off the firewall lip also.

9. You can now lift off the tower mount.

10. It should clear the shock if you remove it by leaning it towards you.

11. Now the single sided brace can be removed.

12. Repeat the whole process for the other side and you’re ready to assemble now.

13. Now is a good time to cover up any indentations or rough spots on the Mustang shock towers.

14. Now after prep work finished, lay the new Mustang export brace on the three new bolts that you’ve inserted into the slots. Put nuts on, but leave real loose as you may need to adjust.

15. Since the new Scott Drake export brace is a single piece unit, just lay the rear section up on the rubber for now. You may want to place a rag or something between the two to avoid scratching the paint.

16. You may have to pry some here with a screw driver to move the holes over the three bolts on the other side. If needed, you can also slide the bolts in the slots to get under the holes.

17. Once you’ve got this side down, now place your new Dynacorn shock tower tops onto the holes and put your nuts onto the bolts so this will not come off.

18. Go back to other side and now put your Mustang shock tower tops on this side also and again put the three nuts on but still leave loose.

19. To get the holes to line up on the firewall flat, use a short punch and line up one of the inside holes. Then you should be able to place your new bolt in the end hole.

20. After all four bolts have been placed in holes, these can be tightened up with two 9/16-inch wrenches.

21. Now you can go back to the three bolts on each side of the tower tops and tighten them down with your 1/2-inch wrench.

22. Now you may have to push down on your shocks slightly to get the two fine thread bolts started in their holes.

23. Recheck all the Mustang shock tower top bolts to make sure they are secure, don’t over tighten the fine thread bolts on the shocks as you could strip them out if you use too large a wrench.

24. The finished installation of your new Mustang Dynacorn Shock Tower Top.
