Tools Required:
- 10mm Wrench
- Phillips Head Screw Driver
- Flat Head Screw Driver
Install Difficulty:
- Easy Project

1. To begin the installation of your new Mustang ignition switch assembly, remove the negative battery cable from the battery. Use the torx screw driver to remove the screws that hold the under dash trim.

2. Use the Phillips screw driver to remove the screws that hold the plastic collar that covers the Mustang steering column.

3. Use the Phillips screw driver to remove the Mustang steering column screws that are holding the steering cover which is located between the steering wheel and dash.

4. Pull the left side of the small plastic filler piece to unclip it and then pull it off of the steering column.

5. The ignition switch assembly is located on the right side of the Mustang steering wheel area. Locate and remove the two bolts holding the assembly to the steering column using the 10mm wrench. The assembly may have two bolts that have a torx pattern with a pin in the middle. Use a hollow torx screw driver to take the bolts out.

6. Pull the assembly away from the steering column and disconnect the black plug from the assembly.

7. You can tell if there is a problem with the assembly if you can see a gap between the plastic and the metal body of the assembly. The new assembly should not have this gap.

8. Plug the Mustang electrical and wiring into the new ignition switch assembly. Then attach the ignition switch assembly to the steering column with the 10mm bolts.

9. Reinstall the Mustang steering column plastics and the lower dash plastic.

10. Installation is complete and you can test out the new Mustang ignition switch assembly by putting the key into the ignition and starting the car.
