Tools Required:
- Wheel Chocks
- Jack & Jack Stands
- Rags
- Pair of 9/16-inch Wrenches
- Crescent Wrenches
- Pliers
- Fuel Line Clamp Pliers
Install Difficulty:
- Moderate Project
1. To begin the installation of your Mustang power steering slave cylinder boot kit, safely chock the vehicle's rear wheels and place jack stands securely under vehicle, after jacking the front end up.

2. Use the crescent wrench to keep the Mustang power steering slave cylinder shaft from turning while loosening the nut and locknut with the 9/16-inches wrenches.

3. Finish the removal process by pushing the slave cylinder rod into the cylinder to clear the Mustang power steering slave cylinder mount bracket. Once clear remove the old clamp with the pliers. Do not damage the cylinder rod with the pliers. Remove the rubber boot from the slave cylinder body by pulling on it. If torn like this one, it will come off in pieces. Wipe any dirt from the Slave cylinder rod before installing the new rubber boot.

4. Install the new boot on the Mustang power steering slave cylinder end by pulling it around the housing. Extend the boot until just before the threads begin. Tighten new clamp securely around the shaft. Install one metal washer, then one bushing. Be sure the flat side of the bushing is against the washer. Slide the included metal sleeve over the threaded end of the cylinder and into the bushing. Pull the cylinder rod into the mount. Add the second bushing and washer, again being sure to put the flat side of the bushing against the washer.

5. Install the new nut and tighten enough to snug the bushings into the mount. Do not over tighten. Hold the end of the rod to keep the cylinder rod from turning if needed. Place the locknut on the rod and tighten securely.
6. Lower the car back onto the ground and enjoy your new Mustang power steering slave cylinder boot kit.
