California Residents: Proposition 65 Warning
Getting in and out of a truck can be a bit difficult, especially if it has larger tires or a lift. So today we're gonna make it a whole lot easier to get into our 2015 Ram by installing these Lund nerf bars.
These are Lund's black, stainless steel nerf bars designed to fit the 2009-2018 Crew Cab and Mega Cab Ram. They're gonna easy bolt onto your Ram without any drilling and they're made of 304 stainless steel with a nice black powder-coat finish and all the necessary hardware is included.
They're designed to easily bolt onto your Ram without any cutting or drilling and they're made of 304 stainless steel and a nice black powder-coat finish. It includes all the hardware that you'll need for an easy install and they're gonna make it a lot easier and safer to get in and out of your Ram. For more information and pricing, click the link in the description down below. Now let's get to the install.
Tools you'll need for this installation, 13mm socket, three eighths ratchet, 17mm socket, 18mm socket, 19mm socket, and a half inch ratchet.
Okay, we're underneath the truck now. You absolutely do not need a lift for this install, we're just using it so it's easier to film. We're gonna be showing you how to do this on the passenger side. We're gonna start off right in this area. If your truck still has this tape on the frame, go ahead and rip it off to expose this hole. And you're gonna grab this wire bolt tool. You're gonna put this through this hole, this end first, and have it come out of this hole.
Grab this bolt plate, it's just a bolt, there's nothing else on this one. And you're gonna thread it on to this tool. Now just thread it on about two threads. If you thread it on any more than that, it's going to be really difficult to remove this. So what you're gonna do is pull it through, get it into the frame, and then pull it out of this hole. Then remove the tool from the bolt by unthreading it. And it can be a little tricky to do this. I'm gonna be using a pick to turn this. But you don't wanna just pull it straight off because you will damage the tool if you do that. And there we go.
Don't let go of the bolt, keep holding on to it and thread on this plastic washer. This will hold the bolt in the frame without letting it fall. It's not gonna put on any significant pressure, it's just gonna hold it there so you don't lose it.
Install the passenger side front bracket. These are labeled and they are side specific. Install a washer, lock washer, and nut. And the bracket that's on that bolt in the frame will prevent it from spinning so you can fully tighten this. Then grab the provided bolt, lock washer, and locknut and thread it into the factor threaded hole. And go ahead and tighten that down.
Go ahead and tighten this nut as well. Tighten this down with a 17mm socket.
Grab an 18mm socket and remove the body mount bolt. Now in my experience, if this is your first time removing this bolt, disgusting, nasty black water might come out of here. For some reason it sits up in there and it might get all over you. Just like that. That is some nasty stuff.
Grab the passenger side support bracket and it's gonna go on just like this, so we're gonna put our body mount bolt back in. Tighten the bolt all the way.
With this front bracket fully secured, you can lift up your nerf bar and install one of the provided bolts with the lock washer and washer.
Thread on the clear plastic washer onto the bolt. Then you can install this into the truck. This prevents it from falling in.
Install your rear bracket. You've got a washer, lock washer, and nut. But don't fully tighten it just yet. You have to get the bolt installed down here.
Then line up the nut right here on the nut plate and install the bolt with a washer and lock washer. And tighten down the hardware. Make sure that you keep the bracket straight and make sure it doesn't get crooked on you. All right, and that's it for the rear bracket. It's pretty simple. Now we can attach it to the nerf bar.
Lift up the nerf bar and install the bolt with the washer and lock washer. Now attach the nerf bar to the bracket with the provided bolt. There is some height adjustment here, so you can put it wherever you want and then tighten the bolt. We're just gonna leave ours all the way at the bottom.
All right, go back up front and tighten down the bolt on the nerf bar. Make sure all your bolts are nice and tight. Then repeat the same process for the other side and your install's finished.
Okay, we got out Lund nerf bars installed in our 2015 Ram. They definitely make it a lot easier to get into this truck, even with it being on our four post lift. The install's pretty simple, it shouldn't take you more than an hour and a half to do this. And before you know it, you'll be heading off-road.
