This axle-back exhaust features satin black mufflers and four huge black tips to give the rear of your pony a streamlined, sporty appearance. Get the most out of your factory fresh pony and order your exhaust kit from CJ's now!

Please Note: Installation requires cutting of the factory exhaust piping. Once the modifications have been made to the factory exhaust system, installation is a simple bolt-in procedure.

Tech Tip: This kit includes a set of exhaust valves for active exhaust equipped vehicles ONLY. For non-active exhaust vehicles, you will simply install the included exhaust valve delete pipes.

Please Note: The exhaust valves that are included will NOT add active exhaust functionality to models that are not originally equipped with the option from the factory.

We're gonna totally change the attitude of this Royal Crimson 2018 Mustang GT with help from MagnaFlow.

This is MagnaFlow's Competition Series Axle Back Exhaust, fitting your 2018 Mustang GT Fastback or Convertible. It's made of 409 stainless steel with a black coating and a black quad-tip design. This will work with both your active or passive exhaust system.

Like I mentioned, the MagnaFlow's designed to work with either an active or a passive exhaust system. If you have a passive system, you simply install this delete here. If you have an active system, the valve is included.

For this installation you'll need a lift or a jack and jack stands, 3/8" ratchet, 13 millimeter socket, marker, Sawzall, file, and safety glasses.

So like all Axle Backs the MagnaFlow will require cutting for installation. They give you specific locations on where to cut in this pipe, and we're gonna show you exactly where you wanna do that. This is the hanger right behind your differential. Now on the passenger's side you're gonna measure up five and a half inches and mark. On the driver's side it'll be five inches. And that's where we're gonna cut.

Okay now we're gonna remove these bolts so we can remove these hangers and take off our factory mufflers.

Then we grab a file, just clean up this edge, it'll make it easier for the pipe to slide over.

Okay now we're ready to begin the MagnaFlow installation. Grab the short front pipe here, take the original hanger, we're gonna put that on, put a clamp over it, then slide onto this pipe.

Okay grab the muffler simply and a larger clamp now. Start by sliding in the hanger. And line it up at the mid pipe and slide it over. Okay we're gonna reinstall the bolt now in the hanger, and then make our adjustments.

When everything's straight you're gonna repeat the process on the other side and your installation's finished.

All right so the MagnaFlow exhaust fit really nice, now let's hear how it sounds.

Like we've come to expect from the Competition, a nice low, like a very deep tone at idle.

That definitely sounds better as you rev it up or two, let's take it out on the road and hear how it sounds.

I was definitely happy with the MagnaFlow's Competition, their Axle Back overall fitment. I mean the tips line up really nice in the rear balance and overall the fitment was great. Now revving up in the parking lot, stuff like that, it's on ... I'd say it's a milder sound. It's definitely aftermarket but it's not overwhelming, and cruising in the car it's not really loud at all. When you get on it you can hear it, but for normal driving like normal cruising it's perfectly fine. We're on the highway now. Yeah sixth gear and you can sort of hear it's back there but it doesn't really have that drone.

Now in the past some of the MagnaFlow Competitions did get a little bit of a drone on the highway, that was more the Catback systems. The Axle Back so far, at least in this case and it's getting right around ... I'm up to 2000 RPMs. Yeah it does not, it definitely doesn't have that kind of painful drone tone to it that we've heard in the past from some other systems as well. This one I would say really really falls into a ... it could have been a factory exhaust. I mean it sounds better than stock, it's deeper than stock which is nice. It has a good tone when you get on it, but it's also perfectly livable, it's not overly loud, it's not raspy.

But as you go through the RPM it does change, but it always kinda keeps that lower tone. It's the one thing the Competitions have always done really well. And with the Coyote engine a lot of different exhaust systems you hear kinda get that loud or raspier kinda sound, where MagnaFlow's done a good job of not doing that. I mean you get a little bit more of an aggressive tone as you get louder, as you get up in the RPM, but for normal cruising ... Even if I keep revving it up a little bit. I mean it is a deeper sound overall.

And like I say, kind of in closing, overall fitment was excellent. Very easy to install. Yeah you gotta cut, that's part of an Axle Back. It really is no big deal as long as you have the proper tools to do it. But it's a nice sounding system if you want something a little louder than stock, great looking tips, really positive fitment. And again, it will work with both an active or passive if you have the right components with it. The MagnaFlow Competition's definitely a good system to check out. And as far as installation goes, like any Axle Back it really is about an hour installation, you'll be back on the road in no time.
