Product Description

Master Power Dual Bowl Brake Master Cylinder for 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972 and 1973 Mustangs with Non-Power Disc/Disc Brakes or Disc/Drum Brakes.

While classic 1965-1966 Mustangs are incredibly fun to restore, drive, show off and race, the original braking system's design leaves a lot to be desired. It uses a single master cylinder to provide fluid pressure to all four wheels at the same time. So if a problem arises in any of the four brakes, hoses, lines or single master cylinder, all four brakes lose fluid pressure. This can be disastrous: you could lose your front and rear brakes, which means you won't be able to slow down and stop!

Fortunately, CJ Pony Parts carries this Master Power MC11378MM Dual Bowl Brake Master Cylinder, which will split your front and rear brakes. That way, if a problem develops in the front, your rear brakes will not be affected and vice versa. This Dual Bowl Brake Master Cylinder has a 1" bore and will fit on disc/drum and disc/disc applications. You can also use this as a direct fit replacement for 1967-1973 Mustangs.

Please Note: You will need dual bowl conversion lines to install this cylinder on a 1965-1966 Mustang. This master cylinder is also available in an upgraded chrome finish (BMC85) from CJ's.

Master Power Dual Bowl Master Cylinder For Manual Disc/Disc Or Disc/Drum Brakes 1965-1973 is rated 2.8 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy Install, Needs parts to complete Wasn't exactly a one fore one swap. First of all but no big deal, a stock brake pushrod is loose in the piston unlike the original master which you have to pop the pushrod out. No big deal because the brake pedal holds it in. More important is if you are using your stock lines to the distribution block you will need adapters readily available at summit or jegs. The front fitting needs to be stepped up one size and the back needed to be stepped up twice. You are looking for male to female inverted flare adapters. Or you could make new lines but I did not have the material or tools at the time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from MC is fine, however lines are an issue I installed this MC and it fit just fine. A few things to note: The colored caps in the picture were not included with my MC. The brake lines MU14190O do not fit this MC. The rear bowl line to the dist block is too small, need an adapter. The front bowl nut (mine was black) is too small. It screws in, but does keep pressure. Good Luck! DL

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy Install, but not permanent The master cylinder installed and bled very easily, but had to bend the metal snap on the top as it would not completely seal the MC. Master is prone to leaking out of the gasket from time to time. Overall I'm satisfied because I really needed a new master at the time, but I will be upgrading as soon as I have the funds for sure.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good fit, but felt deceived. Fits as advertised. It wound be nice if it came with adapter fittings. It was not listed that this is a MP brand master cylinder. Felt deceived becouse I was also looking at the lower priced MP product to purchase.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from do not recommend first, it should come with bleeder lines, had to make them.I still cant get it bled even after bench bleeding. Bled in vise, no air, plugged and had rock hard pedal. Put on car, install lines, tons of air in front section of res. Should not be this hard.Typically a simple deal. I believe ine to be deffective but waiting on mp TO CALL BACK.

What m/c do I need for a manual 65 mustang with disk front drum back with power vacuum assist? This one is almost perfect however it is not listed as a fit for power, which is smaller. I know that MC39495 fits however this model is for drum/drum.
