Mustang Drivers Side Lower Door Hinge (1967-1968) Installation Instructions

Tools Required:
  • Socket Wrench
  • 1/2 inch Socket
  • Wire Brush
  • Grinder
  • Rust Converter Spray

1. With the door hinge exposed and the door closed, start the removal process on the old Mustang Driver's Side Lower Door Hinge by unscrewing the bolts holding the hinge to the door and frame. Note: Leave one screw in both the door side and the frame side.

2. Using your Door Hinge Hardware, take one bolt and grind the head off with a grinder.
3. With one bolt left in both the door and frame side, take the stud that you just created and screw it into the place of one of the bolts you have removed on the frame side. Doing this will prevent the mounting plate falling down inside the door frame.

4. Remove the remaining bolt on the frame side.
5. Losen the remaing bolt on the door side and push the bolt in with your finger, if the bolt does not push in, your mounting plate in the door is still secured. If your bolt pushes in you will need to create another stud for your door side.
6. Remove the old Mustang door hinges.

7. Over time and water surface rust may develop under the hinges, so take a wire brush and brush the loose rust away and spray some rust converter to stop the rust from returning.
8. Allow the Mustang rust converter to dry.
9. Place the new door hinge over the studs and bolt it in place of the old one, completing your installation of the Mustang Driver's Side Lower Door Hinge.
