Mustang Line Locks

Line Locks
Adding a line lock to your Mustang can allow you to do many things. Whether you’re looking to show off to your friends and put on a smoke show, or simply get your tires nice and hot before a run down the dragstrip, a line lock installed on your Mustang will help you accomplish both!
What Is A Line Lock?
Good question! A line lock utilizes your Mustang’s front brakes to allow you to do a burnout easily and confidently. Essentially what it does is lock your front brakes by the push of a button. Once your front brakes are locked, you simply rev it up, dump the clutch and your rear tires will spin freely. Once you’re done, push/release the button to free your front brakes and you can roll forward.
What Makes A Line Lock Useful?
The biggest advantage to having a line lock on your Mustang is two-fold. One would be your rear brake pads. If you were to do a brake stand or standing burnout the old fashioned way, there is a large possibility that you would burn up your rear brake pads in the process. A line lock will fully allow your rear wheels to spin freely, thus saving your rear brake pad life.
The other advantage is that it’s simply easier. If you drive a manual transmission Mustang, doing a brake stand or standing burnout can be quite difficult. It consists of revving your engine up, popping the clutch, and hopping on the brake almost all simultaneously. You then want to lightly let up on the brake just enough to hold your front wheels in place while you feather the throttle to control power to the rear tires.
Confusing, right? Save yourself unneeded frustration by picking up a line lock for your Mustang. By locking the front brakes for your burnout with a line lock, you’ll be able to save your rear brake pads and easily do a burnout on demand. It’s a win-win!
