Tools Required:
- Large Flat Head Screw Driver
- Medium Scraper
- Weather Stripping Adhesive
- Rubber Gloves
Install Difficulty:
- Moderate Project
1. To start installing your new Mustang Tail Lamp Housing, first remove the old tail light housing from the car. To do this, start by removing the three bulb sockets, then removing the four mounting bolts from the backside.

2. Remove the old Mustang taillight housing to body seal. Start at the corner and work your way around with your screw driver.

3. Locate the tab at the top of the housing for the Mustang taillights. Bend it slightly up with a screwdriver to clear the red part of the tab.

4. Using the medium scraper, scrape around the edges of the lens to loosen up any glue and pry it apart.

5. Remove the new housings from the box and locate the retaining tab on the top of the housing. Using the screw driver, move the tab up slightly.

6. Line up all of the tabs and install the Mustang taillight lens & bezel into the new housing. It should just snap into place.

7. Using rubber gloves, apply Mustang weatherstrip adhesive to both the new rubber seal and the light housing, as shown in the picture below, and spread it evenly on both surfaces.

8. After letting the adhesive dry per manufactures’ directions, install the new gasket for Mustang taillights on to the housing and apply firm pressure.

9. Install the new Mustang Tail Lamp Housing back in the car, which is the reverse of the removal. Mount the housing in place then install the four mounting bolts and install the light bulb sockets.
