Robert Paxton McCulloch made a major contribution to the automotive world by introducing the original centrifugal supercharger back in 1937, and has remained an industry leader in forced induction technology ever since. Paxton's original reciprocating ball design was originally developed by McCulloch as an air pump for the purpose of recirculating air aboard United States Navy Submarines during World War II, and McCulloch saw the opportunity to improve automotive performance with the same design. From their base of operations located in Oxnard, California, Paxton has produced and distributed their top-notch Mustang superchargers for over 40 years, and will continue to do so for many years to come.
Paxton superchargers have been used on many famous high performance automotive projects, including the renowned NOVI Indy race cars, Ford’s NASCAR “Blower Birds,” and the twin-supercharged 427 Cobra built by none other than Carroll Shelby himself. Paxton has partnered with Shelby on many other project for the Ford Motor Company, including the 1965 289 Shelby Mustang, the 1966-1968 Shelby GT350 as well as a range of over the counter supercharger components for all small-block V8 Mustangs from 1965-1972.
