These PUTCO chrome mirror covers will replace the factory mirror cover on our truck and will match the OEM chrome giving our truck a nice custom look. These install using these four clips rather than adhesive for a more secure install.
There's two ways to go about doing this install, the first of which, which PUTCO recommends, is to remove the glass on the mirror to get to the insides to remove this panel, which doing that you run the risk of actually breaking the glass if you're not careful. The other way is to pull this cover off from the back without disassembling the mirror, but then you also run the slight risk of breaking one of the tabs on this cover, but you're going to be replacing this anyway. I'd rather take the risk of breaking a plastic tab than breaking the glass, so we're going to do it this way, but PUTCO recommends taking off the glass.
Get yourself a plastic pry bar or a trim removal tool and wedge it between the mirror and the cover itself. Then, once you get it separated, just pull straight back, and there you go. Grab the new mirror cover. They are labeled side-specific. This is for the right-hand side. We're on the passenger side, so this is the right one. Line it up. Now, repeat the process on the other side and your installation is finished.
