California Residents: Proposition 65 Warning
The factor hood latches on the JK Wrangler are ugly and boring and over time, they can become brittle and break. So today, we're gonna be installing these Rampage stainless steel hood latches fitting your 2007 to 2018 Jeep Wrangler. These hood latches are designed to be an easy direct fit replacement for the factory ones, but instead of being faded, ugly, black plastic, they're made of beautifully polished stainless steel for a premium look and durability. They come with everything you need for an easy installation. So today, we're gonna install them on our 2008 Jeep Wrangler.
Tools you'll need for this installation: 10-millimeter socket, 11-millimeter socket, 10-millimeter socket, a wobble extension or universal socket, and a 3/8 ratchet.
These hood latches are pretty straightforward to install. The first thing we're gonna do is open up the hood. We're gonna start off by removing the upper portion of the latch by removing the two 10 millimeter nuts that hold it on. We can now remove the lower portion of the hood latch. It's a bit tricky to get to. We have two wobble extensions here and a 13-millimeter socket. Feed them this way and get it on the nut.
Then out it comes. Grab your nice, new polished latch and install it the same way you removed the factory one. Get the nuts started by hand, then you can get your socket on there. Grab the upper portion of the latch and install it with the nut and washers. Then tighten them down with an 11-millimeter socket.
The last thing we need to do on this side is clean the area with alcohol and then install our hood bump pads. Then repeat the process on the other side. Okay, we got our Rampage polished stainless steel hood latches installed. They're looking so much better than the factory ones. They definitely give this jeep a nice, premium look. Installation really isn't that bad. But getting to this bottom nut right here can be a bit tricky. But if you have wobble extensions or universal socket, that'll make it a lot easier. Installation should only take about 30 to 45 minutes. Before you know it, you'll be heading off-road.
