Tools you'll need for this installation: a lift and a pole jack or a jack and jack stands, 3/8 ratchet, 10 mm socket, 15 mm socket, 15 mm wrench, 18 mm wrench, a flathead screwdriver, and a sledge hammer. All right, installation of this leveling kit is pretty straightforward. Obviously, the first thing you want to do is get the front end up in the air and take the wheel off. The first thing we're going to remove now is the ABS line right here. Remove the 10 mm bolt on the bracket for the ABS line. Disconnect the sway bar end link by putting a 15 mm wrench on top and use a 15 mm socket on the bottom. Disconnect the sway bar end link by using a 15 mm wrench on top and a 15 socket on the bottom. We can now disconnect the lower strut bolts using a 15 mm socket. Remove the three 18 mm nuts on top of the strut.
Use your 18 mm wrench again to loosen the nut on the upper ball joint. Don't remove the nut just yet; just loosen it. To loosen the ball joint from the knuckle, grab yourself a hammer. Then, you're going to hit right here on the knuckle with the hammer to remove it. Don't hit the control arm or the ball joint. Just hit right here on the knuckle and it'll pop right out. The ball joint is now separated from the knuckle. We can carefully remove the nut the rest of the way. Be careful when removing this nut, or have the suspension supported, because this might drop pretty abruptly on you. The strut's completely removed and now we can install our ReadyLIFT spacer. Just simply put it on top of the strut, life up on the strut, get it through the holes on the strut tower, and then install the new supplied nuts.
Those nuts can then be tightened with a 15 mm wrench. Re-attach the sway bar end link. With the end link connected, we're going to reinstall the two bolts on the bottom of the strut. Now, we're going to use a pole jack to lift up on the suspension so we can reconnect the upper control arm. Reinstall the brake line bracket with the 10 mm bolt. It's important to note, when installing a leveling kit like this, your suspension geometry will be off a little bit and you might get uneven tire wear, so you want to make sure you get it properly aligned. All right. Everything is back together. Now, getting the upper control arm into the steering knuckle was a bit difficult, but now that everything is back together, we're going to double check and make sure everything is tight. Then repeat the process on the other side, and then you're done.
All right. We have our ReadyLIFT leveling kit installed and it actually did raise our truck an inch and a half. It looks a lot better. It's nice and level with the rear. We have some extra room for a bigger tire and some extra ground clearance now. Installation's pretty straightforward. Should take you between two and three hours, and before you know it, you'll be heading off road.
