This QuickLIFT PLUS Hood Strut Kit 21-20002-02 from Redline Tuning replaces your 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK's stock hood prop rod for a stylish and functional upgrade. This kit's progressive gas springs will lift and hold your JK's hood, eliminating the need for a poorly placed prop rod!

Features and Benefits of the Redline Tuning QuickLIFT PLUS Hood Strut Kit (21-20002-02):
- Black e-coated custom-valved gas springs
- Gloss black powder-coated hardware
- Progressive, slow release system
- Simple and straightforward, bolt-on installation
- Works with ALL stock and aftermarket hoods

These hood struts feature a progressive slow release system. During the final few inches of operation, gas springs slow down the extending rate which allows for a fluid lifting process. Simply start to lift your JK's hood then allow the QuickLIFT PLUS system to take over. The hood will lift and hold firmly at the raised position, eliminating the need for a stock prop rod.

The JK QuickLIFT PLUS system is engineered to fit all Jeep Wrangler JK models. It comes with gloss black powder-coated mounting hardware and black e-coated gas springs with progressive slow-release. Installation is simple and straightforward thanks to the included full-color installation manual.

The hood strut kits from Redline Tuning offer an easy to install, cost effective solution to rid yourself of the hood prop and get a factory-looking set of hood struts that will look amazing on your Jeep Wrangler. They simply bolt-on and take approximately 5 minutes total for installation.

The factory hood on the JK Wrangler is pretty heavy, and especially if you have aftermarket lighting, it can be kind of difficult to open and close it. Today we're going to make our life a little bit easier by installing this Redline Tuning Plus with Strut Kit.

This kit includes two black e-coated gas springs, and black powder-coated hardware with four rivets to make for an easy installation. It's going to allow you to eliminate the factory hood prop, and with its progressive slow-release system, it'll make opening and closing the hood a lot easier. So today we're going to install it using our 2016 Jeep Wrangler.

Tools you'll need for this installation, 3/8 ratchet, 13 millimeter socket, 13 millimeter wrench, tape measure, market, center punch, a drill, 3/16 drill bit, and a 5/16 drill bit, or a universal bit, a rivet gun, and safety glasses.

The first thing you're going to want to do, if you can, is open the hood all the way and lean it against the windshield. But we have aftermarket lighting, so we can't do that, so we're just going to use the prop. Then you're going to grab a piece of masking tape and put it right around this area on the hood. Grab a tape measure, now we're going to measure from the very bottom of the hood, up 21 inches and make a mark. Right about here. And the tape is just there so you mark the tape and not the paint. Now Measure two inches from the outside of the hood in, and that is where you're going to place your provided bracket. Line up the very center of this bracket, or the ball with the line that you made at 21 inches, and then use a marker to mark the bottom hole, then you're going to drill that hole out for the rivet.

Use a center punch to indent the center of the mark that you just made to make it a little easier to drill. Drill the hole out with a 3/16 drill bit, then put some tape on the drill bit, just so you don't punch through the metal and damage the other side of the hood. Get the bracket in place with one of the rivets. Make sure you have a 3/16 rivet attachment on your gun. Line up the bracket nice and straight, and install the rivet. With the bracket in place, you can drill the other hole. Insert the other rivet.

Now come to this metal lip, it's kind of near the firewall at the bottom of the hood, this is where the other bracket's going to go. You're going to come one inch down from the top, half an inch in. Mark that point, and then drill. So go half an inch in, and one down. Right there, then we're going to drill our hole. Indent the center of your mark with a punch. Then drill it out with a 5/16 drill bit.

Apply some paint to the hole that you just drilled, so it doesn't rust. Then once it dries, you can install the ball stud. Install the ball stud with the washer and nut, then tighten it down with a 13 millimeter socket and wrench.

Remove your tape, install the strut with the shaft part on the bottom at the fender. Repeat the process on the other side, then your installation's finished.

So we got our Redline Tuning Hood Strut Kit installed. These are actually really strong, when we put these on, only one strut was holding up the hood to begin with, and we have after-market lights. It's not recommended to do that, but that just shows how strong they are. Installation's super easy, it's only going to take about 30 to 45 minutes, and before you know it, you'll be heading off road.
