2018 F-150 Revealed With Diesel EngineLast Updated August 4, 2019
If you haven’t been living under a rock for the past three years, then you know that the 2015 F-150 sure made some waves throughout the truck segment due to the all-new aluminum body. Then, the following year, Ford debuted the all new Super Duty lineup with the same aluminum construction, and people are loving it!
Not only are truck owners seeing weight savings, but as a result gas mileage and overall efficiency is up across the scale. It’s truly a testament to the modern ground-breaking engineering advancements taking place at the Ford Motor Company Headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan.
With that said, meet the all-new 2018 Ford F-150 and it’s optional 3.0L Power Stroke® V6 diesel engine! Among many other new looks and features on the newly redesigned 2018 F150, many are excited to get their hands on Ford’s latest reveal announced just this week at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan.
2018 F-150 Features
With available class-exclusive Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, the all-new 2018 F-150 can apply the brakes to prevent a collision with another vehicle or pedestrian. Not to mention, the now-available WiFi hotspot which can help you stay connected anywhere you go.
The new 2018 Ford F-150 also features the best towing ever thanks to newly redesigned more powerful and more efficient engine offerings including the 3.0-liter Power Stroke® turbo diesel engine.
The new F-150 is even tougher thanks to the segment-first high-strength, military-grade, aluminum alloy body carried over and strengthened from the outgoing 2017 F-150. This new truck will be able to withstand more abuse than any F-150 before. Not to mention, the addition of the automatic start/stop as standard equipment across the board doesn’t hurt either.
2018 F-150 Engine & Transmission
Just like the 2017 Raptor, the 2018 F-150 will feature the segment-first 10-speed automatic transmission across the board. But don’t worry, the 6-speed will still be offered for the naturally-aspirated 3.5L V6 for those contractors and work trucks out there.
With a vast assortment of engine offerings for the 2018 F-150, there’s no doubt that you’ll be able to find an F-150 that fits your lifestyle whether it’s a daily commuter or hauling loads across town. Pair that with the ever-capable 10R80 10-Speed Automatic Transmission, and your F-150 will be one of the toughest pickup trucks out on the street; right off the showroom floor!
2018 F-150 Engine Offerings:
- 3.0L Power Stroke® V6 Turbo Diesel
- 2.7L EcoBoost® V6
- 3.5L EcoBoost® V6

2018 F-150 Design Changes
As with any major body style change, there were many design and appearance improvements made to the 2018 F-150. In today’s constantly changing world you simply can’t introduce new engine offerings and a plethora of technological advancements without switching up the styling of the F-150 either!
Perhaps most notably different is the signature front grille. With a slightly smaller Ford logo centering the grille, the headlights extend further inwards while there are “scoops” that could potentially be used for air inlets to the engine on sportier trim levels. There’s no doubt that this new look is welcome, especially with the new daytime running lights (DRLs) turned on.
Moving towards the rear, the tailgate design is slightly different and the large Ford logo is designed well within the blank space below the raised portion of the tailgate. On top of that, the running lights are separated into an upper and lower segment unlike the outgoing 2017 model which runs along the outside border all the way to the bottom of the housing. These touches are subtle but definitely attractive and loved by most.

The horsepower and torque numbers for the all-new 3.5L EcoBoost V6 powered 2017 Raptor have been rumored for a while. Ford has released the official numbers and let's just say that they blow the previous F-150's 6.2L powerhouse out of the water! Combine that with the weight savings of over 500 pounds and this new Raptor takes it to an entirely new level.
An oil change is the most commonly known form of maintenance on a vehicle. In order for the internal combustion engine to work properly, constant lubrication is key - and that means oil changes on your F-150 every 5,000 miles or so is imperative to the longevity of your motor.
