In order to handle the massive amount of torque created by the 6.7L Cummins diesel engine, it is mated to an automatic six-speed Aisin AS69RC transmission that uses shift by wire technology. The other variants of the 2019 Ram Heavy Duty trucks using the standard Cummins engine are equipped with a 68RFE six-speed automatic transmission.
The 6.4 Hemi V8 comes with the TorqueFlite 8HP75 eight-speed automatic transmission. Specifically, with the TorqueFlite transmission, a rotary e-shift dial replaces the typical shifting controls.
