Fiesta RS Rumors
Last Updated August 8, 2023 | Andrew BoyleRumored Fiesta RS Could Become A Reality
Over the past year, Ford Performance has been busy at work announcing new performance-oriented vehicles such as the all-new Ford GT, Mustang GT350, and GT350R, Focus RS, SVT Raptor and more. After all the excitement of these new releases, it seems Ford’s performance division hasn’t stopped either. According to Germany’s Autobild, a Fiesta RS could be in the midst!
The Fiesta ST
The current Fiesta ST comes with a 1.6L, turbocharged four-cylinder packing 197-horsepower and 202 lb-ft of torque. That kind of power isn’t too shabby considering this motor only has a mere ~2,700 pounds to pull down the road. For those hot hatch enthusiasts that crave more out of the ST, Ford Performance is hearing you and listening.
Specs and Price Info
For the rumored Fiesta RS, an even 250-horsepower is more than enough to take on the competition such as the Mini John Cooper Works. At this point in time, an all-wheel-drive version similar to its older brother, the Focus RS, isn’t likely.
On the surface, the lack of an all-wheel-drive system for the Fiesta RS could seem negative. However, there is a bright side to this. By not adding the all-wheel-drive system to the Fiesta, the price point will be much more attainable to more prospective buyers. Although there wasn’t any talk of cost to the consumer, you can expect the rumored Fiesta RS to be much more affordable; especially to those that may want to reach for the Focus RS, but don’t want to pay the extravagant $36,000 MSRP sticker price.
On top of the increased power output from the little 1.6L EcoBoost engine, the Fiesta RS is likely to see rally-inspired aesthetic changes and a stiffer, more aggressive suspension setup.
