Novice skill is required for this installation.
So if you've ever ridden in one of these jeeps, you've probably realized that the armrest is pretty low. Now, I'm only 5'9" and sitting here just like this, my elbow is a couple inches away from the armrest. So, to actually lean on it comfortably, I have to be leaning over, which isn't comfortable, so this armrest extension's gonna help that. And, to begin this installation, all you need to do is to open the lid and remove the four torque screws on the lid. Remove all four screws with a T20 Torque's bit. Remove the lid, then you have to remove the two torque screws on each side to mount the extension. Using the same T20 Torque's bit, remove all four screws. Then remove the two screws on the other side as well.
Once you have all four screws out, you can place the extension on the armrest. Now you'll notice, one of the edges is a little bit more round than the other, this edge is a little more round, so we're gonna place this towards the front, just like this on the extension, but before we put it on, we're gonna put the provided hardware and spacers on here. Insert the two spacers on each side, then place the arm extension over the spacers and install the longer provided screws. Then tighten the screws with a Phillips screwdriver, flip it around and do the same thing to the other side. All right, all four screws are in, we can now put this back on the center console. Put the armrest back on the center console and line it up with the dowel pins and reinstall the factory screws. Tighten down the final screw, then your installation's finished.
We've got our Rugged Ridge Armrest Extension installed, and as you can see, I'm in a much better position now, I'm not leaned over at all to rest my arm on the armrest. And, this thing is pretty much one solid chunk of rubber. You can see how soft it is, it's a lot more comfortable than the factory armrest, installation's super easy too, it should only take you about 10 to 15 minutes and before you know it, you'll be heading off-road.
