These Rugged Ridge half doors feature a thermoplastic outer door skin with a durable powder-coated internal steel door frame. They have lockable handles. They use OEM style hinges and even include an internal storage pouch. They have waterproof seals around the edge of them and are paintable, or you can leave them black. With that being said, we're going to assemble them here on the table, and then get them installed on our 2008 Jeep Wrangler.
We're going to start with some prep work on the doors right here on the table. The first thing we're going to focus on is the hinges here. We're going to get these retention bolts out, put on the hinges, and then the factory bolts. Let's get started.
These are going to use a 13-millimeter socket to get them pulled out. Repeat the same process on the lower hinge. Place the passenger side hinge into place. Then, use the Allen key hardware to get it tightened down. Get these snugged up. You more than likely will have to release them and readjust them when you put them on the Jeep. Put the hinge on the lower side, repeat the same process.
After the lower hinge is installed, flip the door over, and we'll work on the inside. We're going to grab this grab handle and set it into place. Set it with the right way out. Make sure that nothing's binding up. Then, we're going to take one of these metal pieces here, this is going to cover up. Then, use the included hardware to go through, into the hole. Do that for this side as well. Then, get them tightened up with a T25 Torx Bit. Get them nice and snugged up.
In order to get some mirrors on our half doors, we're actually going to borrow them off of our full doors. You can either grab a new set or do this. We're going to remove these two T40 Torx Bits on the inside of the door. Go ahead and install the factory mirror through the outside. Then, you're going to use the included Allen key hardware to attach them. Just get them started, then we'll get them tightened up. Now, you're ready to remove your full door and install this half door.
Now, you can install your half door. In order to get these fully adjusted, what we're going to do is loosen up the bolts at the hinges here. That's going to let us close this door, retighten them up, and get a good starting point. You can make really fine adjustments to make sure it closes better, but we'll start here.
Once the door is closed, tighten them back up. Check that it closes properly. As you can see, we have good body lines all the way around. Repeat the same process on the other side and your installation's complete.
We just wrapped up the installation of these half doors onto our 2008 Jeep Wrangler and they look absolutely awesome. It's a really nice feature for this Jeep. It gives you that open-air feeling without having to remove your full door. You can use the factory mirrors on them so that way, you can see and still be legal. Now, the install time is about an hour and you will have to get these things painted if you'd like, when you're done. You can find them, as well as many other great parts for your JK, right here at CJPonyParts.com.
