These hood catches are made of silver painted aluminum, which would make them significantly more durable than the factory catches, and they're adjustable for a perfect fit and to make your hood nice and tight. They're going to give your Jeep a nice custom touch and they're super easy to install. So, today we're gonna install them on our 2016 Jeep Wrangler. Tools you'll need for this installation : 3/8 ratchet, 1/4 inch ratchet, 11 mm socket, 10 mm socket, 13 mm socket, two 5 mm hex keys, 4 mm hex key, and a 16 mm wrench.
The first thing we're going to do is obviously open up the hood. Then, we're going to remove this portion of the catch on top of the hood. Remove the two nuts with a 10 mm socket, then remove the catch. Now, we can remove the bottom portion of the hood catch that mounts to the fender. There's a 13 mm nut that's kind of hard to get to. I'm going to be using a 3 inch extension, a universal socket, and 13 socket. Remove the nut, then you can pull off the catch. Install the hood bumper onto the catch, and now this portion can install onto the Jeep. We can now put this onto the Jeep's fender. These are not side-specific. Get the bolt through and install the nut on the back side. Be careful not to drop it.
Now, we're going to tighten this nut and bolt using a 13 mm socket on a 1/4 inch ratchet and a 5 mm hex key. Now, we're going to reinstall this portion of the catch onto the bracket with the hardware. With the bottom portion of the catch installed, we're now going to install the hood portion. Place the bracket on with this hook part at the bottom, then install the two nuts. Tighten the bolt-end screw with a 4 mm hex key and a 10 mm socket. All right, repeat the process on the other side, then your installation is finished.
These hood latches are adjustable. If you need to adjust them, whether to make them shorter or longer for them to fit, use a 16 mm wrench. Loosen up the jamb nuts, then you can rotate this to either make it shorter or longer. Our Rugged Ridge Hood Catches are installed. They look way better than the factory catches, and they're significantly stronger, too. They are adjustable so you can make your hood looser or tighter if you want. Installation's not too bad, should take about 30 to 45 minutes and before you know it, you'll be heading off road.
