Rugged Ridge Hood Light Bar Kit Textured Black With Five 3-1/2" Round LED Lights Jeep Wrangler JK 2007-2018

We just installed this Rugged Ridge Hood Light kit on our 2016 Jeep Wrangler, and if you're looking for a serious lighting upgrade that'll give your Jeep a nice, rugged look, this thing is exactly what you need, and we're going to show you how to install it.

This kit comes with a mount made of heavy-duty steel with your choice of a textured black or a gloss black finish that will directly bolt to your hood, with no cutting or drilling, and it includes five, round, LEDs that are super bright, and will really help out when we're off-road, so today we're gonna install it on our 2016 Jeep Wrangler.

For this installation you'll need: a 3/8 ratchet, 13mm socket, t47 Torx bit, 6mm hex key, 13mm wrench, and a set of cutters, crimpers, and strippers.

The very first part of the installation is just assembling the mount itself. It's pretty easy, it's only six screws. Assemble the bracket, and then install the provided hardware on each side. Then use a 5mm hex key to tighten it all together. Then do the other side, and now it can go on the Jeep.

With the mount assembled, remove the four t47 Torx bits securing the hood to the hinge. Now, getting the Torx bit in there might take a little bit of persuasion, because they are painted over, and it's not that easy to get it in there, but with a little bit of wiggling, and persuasion it will go in.

Grab the provided gaskets, and install one on each hinge. Install the bracket. Be very careful not to scratch your paint.

The lights are ready to be installed now, the light does require some assembly, but before you assemble it, grab a bolt, or a spare bolt, and run it through the threads a couple times, because the powder coat makes it really tough to thread it in by hand, then it's all good.

Grab the bracket, and the shorter bolt that comes with the lights, put a lock washer on there, then the regular washer, and thread it into the light. Do the same thing on the other side. Then you can tighten them up, but don't make them too tight, because you'll probably want to adjust the bracket when it's on the Jeep, and now it's ready to go on the bar.

Put the provided bolt through the bracket, now there are four different mounting locations, however, we're gonna use this middle one right here. With the bolt through the bracket, slide it onto the mount, then put the big washer on the bolt, and then lock the nut. To tighten this you'll need a 13mm wrench, and a 13mm socket, and just repeat this same process for the rest of the lights.

To get the harness through the hood just lift up the hood, and slide it through the crack right next to the hinge. You can wire the lights up however you would like, however, we have this Painless Performance Trail Rocker Kit that we're gonna wire the lights into. This Trail Rocker Kit allows you to easily install auxiliary lighting, we really recommend that you get one, it makes it really easy.

You need to run the power wires, for the lights, to a 12 volt source, which we're gonna run to this wire for the Trail Rocker Kit, then all you need to do is wire up the grounds, and your installation's finished.

This is what it looks like with a gloss black bar. You can choose how to wire the lights up however you would like, however, we chose to wire it up to the Trail Rocker, now we're gonna see how bright they are.

Here you can see, we're about 15 feet away from our wall, and this is insanely bright. The only thing on are the five lights, there's no fog lights or headlights on, this is just the five LEDs. It is super bright.

Our Rugged Ridge Hood Light Kit is installed, it looks really good. The textured, black matches the fenders and mirrors nicely, and the round lights really go well with the headlights and fog lights. Installation's gonna take you about an hour, and before you know it, you'll be heading off-road.
