This Rugged Ridge spare tire mount is made of high quality steel with a nice textured black finish. It mounts behind the spare tire and features a light mount and a license plate mount. It can be used with factory or aftermarket wheels and today, we're going to be installing it on our 2016 Jeep Wrangler.
The first part of this installation is removing the spare tire. Grab your Rugged Ridge bracket and install it on the studs. No matter what wheel you have, you will have to remove the center cap for the wheel to go back on. Insert the second part of the mount. Then install the locking pin and lock the pin. At this point, you can either relocate your license plate to right here, or install another light, say to hook up to your reverse lights, but in our case, our installation is finished.
Our Rugged Ridge spare tire light mount is installed. Now, there are a lot of options with this. You could install a reverse light. You could install a vanity plate. You could relocate your license plate or even a backup camera, but, in our case, we're going to leave it as is. Installation will take about 15 minutes and before you know it, you'll be heading off road.
