Novice skill is required for this installation.
If you already have, or are planning on lifting your jeep and getting larger tires, you're going to need this Rugged Ridge steering stabilizer. This steering stabilizer is going to improve the handling of your jeep as well as dampen the roughness and vibrations on the highway from the larger wheels and tires. It's super easy to install and will make driving your jeep that much more enjoyable, so today we're going to install it on our 2008 Jeep Wrangler.
Tools you'll need for this installation: a lift or a jack and jack stands, 18 millimeter socket, three-eighths ratchet, 18 millimeter wrench, and you might need a small pry bar.
All right, here's the factory steering stabilizer. This is what we're going to be replacing. Super easy to remove. All you'll need is an 18 millimeter socket and wrench. Remove the first bolt on the passenger side with an 18 socket and 18 wrench. You might want to consider soaking everything with penetrating lubricant if your vehicle is as rusty as ours before beginning the installation. Remove the other nut. And we're gonna use a small pry bar to separate the steering stabilizer from the stud. Remove the bolt.
Okay, we have the factory steering stabilizer off. Now we need to put our bushings and our new Rugged Ridge steering stabilizer. We're going to lubricate them up and install them.
With the bushings installed, insert the sleeves inside the bushings. It's now ready to go on the jeep. Simply install the Rugged Ridge steering stabilizer in the reverse process that you took the factory one off. Install the factory hardware.
And then of course, it wouldn't be complete without the Rugged Ridge sticker. Now our installation's finished.
All right. We got our Rugged Ridge steering stabilizer installed. It looks really good under here. It really stands out because really it's the only clean thing under here right now. It's definitely going to help out with our handling, especially when we go with bigger tires and modify the suspension. And installation was super easy. It should only take about 30 minutes to get this thing installed and before you know it, you'll be heading off-road.
