Scott Drake Curved Black Monte Carlo Bar for 1965-1966 Mustangs.

This premium-quality Monte Carlo bar from Scott Drake was originally developed by Carroll Shelby to stop shock tower flex and maintain proper wheel alignment during hard cornering. This extra support also helps prevent shock tower stress cracks. Copied from the original design, Scott Drake's bars feature a new thicker diameter tube and improved fender brackets.

This beautiful metallic black bar features stamped square holes in the top of each fender bracket to allow for the use of lower profile carriage bolts. The curved design of Scott Drake's bar allows for extra clearance for an oval air cleaner and taller aftermarket distributors. Order your upgraded Monte Carlo bar today from CJ's!

Vehicle Fitment

This product will fit the following Mustang years:

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I can finally get to my distributor cap I had an already installed straight Monte Carlo bar, but it made getting to my distributor cap almost impossible. I researched the different curved Monte Carlo bars and found the Scott Drake one to be a great fit. It bolted right in, and all the holes aligned up correctly. It literally took 15 minutes to swap out the bars. I was worried because I have a Sanden AC compressor, but it cleared that by 3/4". It looks sharp and fits great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, installed in less than 45 minutes I installed this on my 64 1/2 Mustang Convertible, looks great and made a difference in the handling. Scott Drake parts are everything they say they are.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fits nicely Ties the top of the fender wells together nicely and works with a GM style HEI ignition distributor. Have to adjust the hood fit to make the gaps even.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Monte Carlo Bar to short Export brace fits and hood closes as it should. The Monte Carlo bar is 1&1/2" to short. If I used this bar the hood would overlap the fenders.

Will the curved Monte Carlo bar work with a 6 cylinder engine (and its air cleaner location)?

Asked by: CMA BC
You would need a monte carlo bar that is offset to the passenger side to clear the 6 cylinder air cleaner. We do not offer one.

To fit this version to my 65 Rag Top , can I retain the engine compartment tubular bracing or must they be removed ?.

Asked by: swainey
They must be removed or repositioned.

I'm replacing the upper control arms on my 65 mustang and it had several shims on it. If I install this bar, will I still need to shim my upper control arm?

Asked by: Texal
Yes, these shims are for proper front end geometry. Installing the Monte Carlo bar will reduce flex but does not change alignment specs.
