Novice skill is required for this installation.
Tools you'll need for this installation, a lift and a pull jack, or a jack and jack stands, 21mm socket, and extension, half inch ratchet, 21mm wrench, 14mm socket, 3/8" ratchet, and a 15mm wrench.
Okay, so this is the rear track bar, this is what we're going to be replacing today. Just for safety, and make it a little easier, the first thing we're going to do is support the rear axle with a pull jack. Okay, the first bolt we're going to remove is the one that attaches the track bar to the frame. Use a 21mm socket and wrench to remove the bolt, and remove the bolt. Remove the bolt, and the bar. Okay, so here's a side by side comparison of our TeraFlex track bar and our OEM track bar. As you can see, the TeraFlex bar is much bigger and it looks a whole lot better, and it's fully adjustable. It comes out of the box as the same length as the factory bar. That's good for us, because we don't have a lift in our Jeep just yet, so we're going to keep it at the factory length, but if you do have a lift, all you need to do is loosen these two bolts and turn this turn buckle to lengthen it.
All right, we're going to throw this track bar into place. The turn buckle is going to mount to the axle, and the longer parts going to mount to the frame. Get it into the mount, and use the factory hardware to secure it. All right, now get the other end into the axle. Just snug these up, don't get them fully tight just yet. Re-install the nut on the frame, get it snug but don't tighten it just yet, we're going to tighten these two bolts with the suspension loaded with the Jeep on the ground.
If you ended up extending the arm to make it easier to install, you want to make sure that you tighten the bar up again and make it shorter, just by twisting the turn buckle you'll shorten it, bringing it back to the proper length. Then, when you're finished with this install, you will want to take it to a professional alignment shop to make sure that you have it just right. Tighten the nuts on the turn buckle to make sure it's nice and locked, now we're going to put the Jeep on the ground and tighten up the bolts on the frame and the axle. We have the Jeep on the ground, now we can tighten the bolts. Once you get them both tight, your installations finished.
Okay we got our TeraFlex read adjustable track bar installed. It's way bigger, and looks much better than the factory bar and it'll keep our axle nice and center when we go to lift our Jeep. Installation really shouldn't take you more than an hour, and before you know it, you'll be heading off-road.
