Looking for a suspension system that will give you the control you need to get your 1965-1970 small block Mustang down the track? Then take a look at this Total Control Products Drag System Front Subframe Suspension Kit (TCP KS5-644) with Small Block Ford Springs from CJ Pony Parts! Designed to fit Total Control Products' Front Subframe Kit, adjustable shocks and spindles fabricated specifically for drag racing are just a few of the great handling performance parts contained within this kit.
The control arms are made of mandrel-bent steel tubing with a black finish. The upper control arms have a 7/8 x .156” wall and the lower control arms have a 1 x .156” wall. The tubular design makes the control arms lightweight, yet still durable enough for daily performance driving. The heavy-duty balljoints feature a screw-in design, making replacement of a worn-out balljoint simple. To make installation even simpler, a zinc-plated balljoint wrench is supplied.
Features and Benefits:
- Flexible VariSprings Allow Greater Shock Travel
- QuickSet 2 Shocks Feature Double-Adjustable Knobs with 16 Settings
- Spindles Provide 2" Drop in Ride Height
- Control Arms Made of Mandrel-Bent Steel Tubing
- Billet Aluminum Power Rack and Pinion with Satin Finish
This Drag System Suspension Kit features a pair of g-Machine drag race spindles that have been fabricated from chrome-moly steel and are extremely lightweight. To decrease weight while retaining the structural strength of the spindle, unneeded material was removed from the spindles by the use of finite element analysis software. The spindles were then stress-tested for their durability, and finally physically tested before being released for production. With a 2” drop in ride height, these spindles provide your Mustang with a lower center of gravity and quicker camber curve that will improve your handling as you launch down the track.
The manual rack and pinion is constructed of billet aluminum with a satin finish, designed to fit left hand drive 1965-1970 Mustangs without power steering. It is comprised of three pieces, a billet aluminum rack body, sculpted aluminum gear box and stainless steel center tube that thread together at O-ring sealed joints to form a strong, lightweight assembly. The internal gearing of the rack is supported by low-friction polymer bushings and roller bearings that give gear engagement a smoother feel, increasing the longevity of the rack. To replace your stock tie-rods, this suspension kit upgrades them to adjustable bumpsteer tie-rods. These bumpsteer tie-rods allow finer adjustment of the suspension by letting you correct unwanted toe-in during the travel of the suspension, diminishing and sometimes removing the bumpsteer effect.
Kit Includes:
- Pair of Black Steel Upper and Lower Control Arms
- Pair of Ball Joints with Wrench
- Pair of Fabricated Drag Spindles
- Pair of Bumpsteer-Style Tie-Rods
- Billet Satin Left Hand Drive Manual Rack
- Pair of VariShock Quickset 2 Shocks
- Pair of Springs for Small Block Ford
- Shock Simulator Tool
The VariShock QuickSet 2 Shocks have double-adjustable knobs with 16 settings for bump and rebound individually. This allows you to fine-tune your suspension with a total of 256 possible unique combinations to really dial in your suspension to get the best launches, and handling down the strip. Both knobs have been laser-etched with directional arrows and plus/minus symbols that clearly indicate which direction achieves the desired adjustment. Additional arrows etched into the shock base display which knob sets bump, and which one sets rebound. All adjustments can be made within seconds, without removing or unbolting the shock. Each QuickSet 2 shock goes through extensive dyno and road testing to offer optimum performance. American-made, VariShocks are constructed of premium components where each shock performs identically throughout the entire range of travel.
Designed to pair with the VariShock QuickSet shocks are a pair of springs that are rated for your small block Ford engine. These springs have been produced from a new high-tensile wire that is far superior to other springs. These new springs can fully compress without damaging the coil which could greatly affect the ride height and handling of your Mustang. Being more flexible than normal springs, these VariSprings allow for more travel of the shock without going solid, giving you better overall traction and control.
Additional Notes:
- This suspension kit will only work with Total Control Products’ Front Frame Clip.
- Control arms in this kit ONLY come in a bare finish.
