In late 2014, Ford launched the thirteenth generation of the F-150. This truck was truly revolutionary, as it introduced an aluminum based design, which shed over 750 pounds from the weight of the truck, which significantly helped fuel economy and performance. A new exterior design was also included that was based on the Atlas concept truck. Speaking of performance, the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 and 5.0L Coyote carried over, while two new base engines were introduced, a naturally aspirated 3.5L V6 as the entry level engine, while a brand new, 325 horsepower 2.7L EcoBoost V6 was introduced as the mainstream engine option. An EcoBoost powered SVT Raptor is expected to make its return in 2017.
