Classic Consoles began in 1997 when the owner of a 1965 Mustang fastback wanted a stylish way to have his travel mug and other items safely stored, yet within arm's reach when cruising. This owner had a background in upholstery, so he decided to take some automotive vinyl and make his own console, one that would match his interior. He used Velcro on the bottom to securely attach it, yet make it easy to remove when he showed the car. This was the first product that Classic Consoles offered. When that first product from Classic Consoles was taken to a local Mustang club, the owner realized he had a hit, and walked out with the first 12 orders in his business' history. More and more owners heard about this product and had a desire for it, allowing Classic Consoles to be formally created.

Building up the business in southern Georgia, Classic Consoles grew rapidly from there. The initial Classic Consoles product was the Humphugger Console, though the lineup has expanded as well to accommodate more and more models and interior configurations. The Classic Consoles design team also understands that people don't want to permanently modify their classic Mustangs, so every one of the Classic Consoles designs allows owners to easily install and uninstall their console in seconds. While the Mustang was the car that began it all for Classic Consoles, dozens of models are offered now.
