I think we can all agree that if you're required to run a front plate on your vehicle, it definitely does not add to the look of the car. Now, in the case of our 2017 Raptor, if you're required to run a front plate, it's going to install right here, which not only looks bad but it blocks the major opening to the truck's intercooler which can hurt performance as well. Well, thankfully as usual, the good people over at STO N SHO have the solution and today we're going to show you how to relocate your plate on your 2017 Raptor.

The concept of the STO N SHO is simple. It allows you to put the plate on your vehicle and be legal when you have to be, but if you're at a race, a show, or whatever and want to remove it, you simply just pull this and take the bracket off. And, it's out of the way. Now, where this is going to mount on the Raptor, it's going to be underneath the bumper.

It's going to basically mount to this plate, right down here. So, while it does cover a little bit of this, definitely a lot less than the factory, and even if you want to remove it, you can as well. Installation's pretty straight forward, I'm going to show you the basics.

For this installation you'll need a marker, drill, 1/8 inch drill bit, 1/4 inch drill bit, 1/4 inch ratchet, 10mm socket, 10mm wrench, and safety glasses.

The STO N SHO is going to mount right here, basically at the back of this section. What you want to do is just put it up there to get an idea of where everything's going to sit, you'll make it flush in the back, then you can mark the holes and drill them out.

Now, we have another bumper off of our other Raptor here. We're going to use this to show you better how to see it, because when we're underneath the truck you're not going to see what I'm doing. Like I said, you want to line that up with the back corner, make sure it's centered, and then mark your holes.

Now, what we're going to do is we have to drill these out to a quarter of an inch. We're going to use an 1/8 inch bit first just to give us a pilot hole before we go out to a 1/4 inch.

When you bolt the bracket on make sure your orientation is correct. Your release has to be in the same spot as this notch, here. And then, tighten them down.

And now, if you're wondering if tightening the bolts on the vehicle is just as easy, not quite but there is a trick. We're going to show you that next.

When you go to install this on your Raptor you're going to be working right here. Now, if you have smaller hands you actually can get your hands up in there to put the nuts on. But, if you want more room, all you've got to do is remove this skid plate. You're going to remove these two bolts here, two more on that side, then loosen the two in the back, this large plate will drop down and you'll have all kinds of room.

Well, that's a lot better than the stock location. Like I said, that blocks almost the whole intercooler. This does block a little bit of the bottom, there's plenty of air around it, and the best part, if you're at the track, show, whatever you're doing, just pull that, remove it, and now it's wide open and looks a lot better as well. Installation's very straight forward, this should take you no more than a half an hour, be back on the road in not time.
