This Ford Mustang is one very special edition. On July 31, 2014, the F-35 Lightning II Edition Mustang was auctioned off for an impressive $200,000 at the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) AirVenture Show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The auction proceeds went to the EAA’s Young Eagles program, which has been providing free introductory flights to over 1.8 million aspiring aviators since 1992. The Young Eagles program is there to help inspire and motivate the up and coming generation of young flyers to experience all there is to piloting an aircraft at a more affordable price.

Since 2008, Ford has teamed up with the EAA to offer these one-of-a-kind Mustangs to be auctioned off towards such a great cause adding up to over $2.5 million for the Young Eagles. This unique 2015 Mustang edition fit the bill with a design based off Lockheed Martin’s F35 Lightning.

The Ins And Outs Of The F-35 Lightning II Mustang

Upon first sight, it’s hard not to notice many one-of-a-kind features about this S550 Mustang. First and foremost would be the extremely aggressive custom front splitter designed to add additional downforce on the car at high speeds - much like the F-35 aircraft.

Next, you’ll notice other cosmetic touches such as the matte black racing stripe with yellow pinstripes laid perfectly over the Magnetic paint. The “slammed look” is completed with yellow brake calipers and stylish stealth gray wheels.

Lastly, as this car speeds by, you’ll notice the aggressive, fighter-jet style yellow and black tail end with “F-35” in large lettering across the rear quarter panels. To tie it all together is black-tipped exhaust, a yellow racing style spoiler along with a custom decklid panel unique to the F-35 Edition Mustang.
