Adding a Mustang strut tower brace to your S197 or GT model is a cheap and effective way to stiffen up the chassis. An engine Strut bar, or strut tower braces, keep the chassis of your car from bending and deforming at high speeds. Engine Strut bar Install Instructions

For this installation, we chose Ford's Boss 302-style strut brace. It fits all 2010-2014 V6 and GT Mustangs, as well as 2012-2013 Boss 302s. If you have a 2011+ 5-liter and are using a Boss 302 intake, you'll want to perform this exact Mustang strut tower brace install.

Your strut bar might be different from the one we chose, but the installation should be similar for all 2004-2014 Mustangs. Just make sure the brace fits with your engine configuration, and always read the manufacturer's instructions before you install it.

Parts and Tools Needed:

  • ⅜” Ratchet
  • ⅜” Torque Wrench
  • 13 mm Socket

Step 1: Remove Strut Mount Nuts

Open up your Mustang's hood to access the engine. Remove the four strut mount nuts on either side of the engine using a 13 mm socket.

The left strut mount is just in front of the battery. The right strut mount is in the same location on the other side of the engine.
