What Is the Yankees Edition Mustang?
Last Updated August 8, 2023 | Andrew BoyleBoth the Ford Mustang and the New York Yankees are certifiable American icons — it’s almost surprising it took the two brands until 2005 to collaborate. Since then, there have been two notable Yankees-themed Mustangs, one of which was a special edition one-off bound for the auction block. The other was limited to only 60 units. If you’re looking for a Mustang to show off your pinstripe pride, you may have no choice but to customize one yourself. That being said, here’s a quick look at the two official Yankees edition Mustangs that have been released.
2010 Yankees Edition Mustang
The 2010 Yankees edition Mustang is a pinstripe-painted GT convertible that was built in 2009 to mark the team’s move to the new Yankee Stadium. Originally given away as part of a contest in a July game, the car found its way to the auction block less than six months later, where it fetched $28,250.
The Yankee edition Mustang sports a 4.6L V8, 19” alloy rims, automatic transmission, and a blue interior. Aside from the characteristic pinstriping, the team’s logo is painted on the hood and doors, and the dash has been autographed by none other than shortstop and team captain Derek Jeter.
2005 Yankees Edition Mustang
Yankees fans may have missed their chance to purchase the most recent Mustang dedicated to their team, but anyone willing to dig a little deeper may have more luck seeking out the 2005 edition, of which 60 were produced. A single car was distributed to each Ford dealer in the Tri-State area, and every so often, one can be found for sale. Like the later model, the 2005s were all white convertibles with Yankee pinstriping, and each came signed by a notable past or current Yankee.
If you’re a baseball fan, it’s pretty difficult not to have an opinion on the Yankees. Whether or not a Yankees edition Mustang is something that appeals to you is entirely a matter of preference — in this case, it is not what’s under the hood that counts!
