Ford Performance created their side exit exhaust kit using the highest-quality materials such as 304 and 409 stainless steel for a product that is certainly going to last for years to come. Each system is designed with driver side and passenger side tail pipes, polished 304 stainless steel tips and an X-pipe made out of 409 stainless steel to replace the less efficient factory H-pipe.

Combined with the supplied rear clamps and the existing factory front clamps, Ford Racing's side exhaust is relatively easy to install and does not require any welding for a true clamp-on system.

*Does not fit 2015-2017 Convertible Mustangs.

Please Note: Cutting of the factory exhaust is required for installation.

Ford Performance Side Exit Exhaust System Fastback GT 2015-2017 is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wow that's loud!! The exhaust bolted up fairly easily after some cutting. There are two pieces of plastic that are bolted to the bottom of the vehicle that have to be removed or at least trimmed. Not a big deal though. The side tips are barely visible, which is good. This exhaust is VERY loud under acceleration. At start up, the short VROOM sounds super sweet. At cruising it sounds good, almost mellow. Hammer the throttle though and I swear it reminds me of open headers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from If you want volume and aggression, this is it I just got this installed today (3-21-15). It is LOUD. Its ridiculous at around 2k rpm it sounds as if I'm at the redline on the stock exhaust but only louder. There is a drone while cruising but luckily for me, I installed a small sub so its not too noticeable with that on. But with it off, it is ridiculously loud. Maybe because I haven't driven anything else that loud and maybe cause the 2015 is my first stang ever, I'm not used to how loud and aggressive it should sound. But in terms of quality, it sounds amazing.... I was worried that it would be like all the other "ricers" out there with a big drone, super loud exhaust note only going across an intersection with an ugly tone. It isn't. It sounds super aggressive and way nicer than any "ricer" exhaust note. I am looking for something to quiet it down, because inside that cabin, it is super loud. But when you stomp on that throttle...its pure music to your ears. But when you driving home from work late at night....its bit too much...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can be very loud So bought this system so I can control the exhaust, but before installing the restrictor plates or electric cutouts I decided to run the side exhaust with no restrictions. It is loud, sounds great, but loud. If you are giving it gas you will hear the exhaust, even at highway speeds it is very noticeable. But this should be expected with open pipes dumping out the side. I will make some videos of it open before installing restrictor plates with different diameter holes. In the end I will probably go with the electric cutouts so I can control the system without exchanging plates all the time. The install was very easy, you do need to trim some plastic shield plates under the vehicle for a proper fit, the instructions do not mention this step. The chrome tips had rust spots all over them from where the welding splattered on them from the factory assembly. Was really surprised at how poor they looked for being a Ford Racing product. This is why I rated the appearance low. Not sure it matters because the tips sit so far back under you can only see them on a lift or if you are laying down beside your pony. But anytime you have rust started on metal exposed to weather I am concerned about the longevity of the material. You can tell in the cab that the tips are under the cabin and not at the edge as well. As for the cost, this is about $700 more then just an X pipe, which really is ridiculous when they just adding two side pipes that are maybe 3 feet long each with rusted chrome tips. But this is much cheaper than the Roush Active Exhaust system and can be modified easily to active different sounds. Plus because of the cost few other fellow Mustang drivers have this system so your Pony stands out in the crowd. While the review sounds negative I am just telling you what I observed. Overall I am very happy and got what I wanted. Just wish the rust spots were not there. I will just need to watch that and see if it is an issue that needs to de death with later.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Obnoxious I've had the exhaust on for a month. Exactly what I wanted. It's a little loud for a daily driver but I love to hear it when I'm rolling down the street. Would buy it again

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Boss 302 Sidepipes for 2015GT Sounds exactly like my Boss 302 which is the sound I was after, I'm happy with the sound!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Sound Just completed installing the exhaust and it sounds great even with the stock mufflers. I would have been happy to stop there however I already had the new axlebacks(FR Sport) and did install them. The combination is incredible . The X pipe install was easy and parts fit well. I did have to trim a little off plastic mud deflectors near where they exit.

Product Questions

I have a 2016 Mustang GT and I installed the GT350 rear valence and matching quad tip FRPP Sport Catback + x pipe. Would it basically just replace my x-pipe? Is the diameter the same as the FRPP Borla X Pipe? Thanks.

Asked by: hulk_smash
Although the diameter is the same I believe, this will not just simply replace the x-pipe that you currently have on the GT350 combo. It will require some minor modifications in order to work, but any competent exhaust shop should be able to easily make that happen.

I own a 2015 Roush Stage 3 currently equipped with the quad-tipped borla exhaust (factory) from Roush.  I have always been interested in the side mounted exhaust but would like to know how it'll affect set up and will I get the loud idle/throttle I want.

Asked by: Dave Superstang
This will definitely provide you with a louder idle and overall sound.

The part number didn't change from the previous generation, so would this still fit the 2011-2014 Mustang GT? If not a direct fitment, could it be easily modified to fit?

Asked by: Roxso
The part numbers are NOT the same. The 2011-2014 GT Side Pipe Kit was M-5220-MB and the 2015-2016 Side Pipe Kit is M-5220-M8. Also, the exhaust routing is totally different and could in no way be easily modified to fit. You'd be better off having a exhaust shop fabricate something from scratch.

Here is the start up and drive off. The wife absolutely loves it on her new 2016 gt. She couldnt be happier.  And you can see it in her face when she first starts it up.  My wife loves mustangs, she grew up around them, this is her first v8 though, her dad has a 67 he restored himself so the lights on the hood she loves.  This car with the exhaust, sct 93tune with  air raid cai and header option selected this car hauls the balls.  Car has air raid mpx intake, jack rails, hood struts, and hidden license plate. Waiting  on  gorilla locks and rear wheel spacers to find Ishmael car off.  This Easily the fastest car I've ever owned. I've had typhoon, impala ss, lt1 head and cam ta, srt4 big turbo/intercooler, etc.  If your complaining about a v8 car with side exit exhaust being to loud check the vag in your pants. My wife drives this car 120 miles a day round trip through dallas traffic and she loves it. We just drove 500 miles round trip and never once did I get tired of the sound. Turn the radio up a little. And at idle and below 2500 rpms you can barely tell anything is there.

Here's An Odd Question Would This Fit A 2015 v6? I Have Already Upgraded My exhaust To A Gt Catback, So I'm Running 2 And A half Inch Diameter Piping. And How Do You Think It Would Sound On A V6? This Could Be A First.

Asked by: canadianwolverine
If you found a way to fit a GT cat-back on a V6, then you potentially could install this with no issues. We have no knowledge of how it would sound.

By Bill Tumas: We’re here with Ford Racing's side-pipe exhaust kit fitting your 2015 Mustang GT Fastback.

If you love the look and sound of the side-pipe kit on the 2012 through 2013 Boss 302, this is the perfect choice for your 2015 Mustang GT Fastback. Starts off with a true x-pipe, replaces your heavy factory resonator. This has to be cut in place and includes everything necessary for installation. The entire pipe is made of 409 stainless steel going out to the side-pipes, ending up in a set of polished 304 stainless steel tips.

This resonator delete Boss 302-style side-pipe kit will work with any axle-back exhaust system and is made in the USA.
